A few months ago I took out and overhauled my rear window regulator and handle.
At the time I took out the regulator and greased and oiled it up and replaced the tailgate handle with a new one from LMC. So the clutch and tailgate handle are new.
A few weeks ago the tailgate handle wouldn't...
Barrman,
Thanks for the info. One day I want to drop tank on mine to clean out my tank out.
I recently recovered a M101a2 had to tow with my Nissan Murano as the pintle hook on the M1009 was rusted shut. I also had Uhaul add a receiver hitch. Took them about an hour to get 4-6 rusted...
Welcome to SS. I live in Middle Tennessee as well. I have a 84 M1009 I purchased in May. Eight months ago I didn't know anything about fixing a car much less a diesel. I am no expert, but I have learned a great deal. It's been a very funride. There are many helpful people on SS. Do your...
Thanks everyone for your input, and help.
Today I went and recovered a Tranny and TC from a 89 4x4 K5 Blazer. My plans are to put her in a future M1028.

A 6.2 diesel tranny? I would love the TV Cable bracket!
Warthog, you can everything else. I need a good tv cable bracket.
If you want to part out? Please send me a PM!

I agree with Warthog from what I found out here in TN. The salvage yards I have checked you can sometimes find a late 80s or early 90s Blazer, Suburban, and truck. They are becoming harder to find. Yes, I can find a tH700r4 in my area, but one that is from a 4x4 and right time period NO. A...
Warthog,
Thanks You for the confirmation! I thought it would work. I wanted to verify.
I am trying to plan ahead. Hoping when the time comes the cost won't hit me so hard. The right 700r4 for the cucvs will only get harder to find.
Thanks,
stationjj
I wanted to ask for some advice. I try and look for civvy K5s being parted out. For a few months now I have been considering and looking for a Th700r4 (4L60) core from a 4X4 for future project. My thoughts I could use in my current M1009 if needed or future M1008. I do realize I will need to...
Well I got the Pintle Hook lever un-lodged. I also unbolted the lever from the pintle hook itself. The bolts were easy to unbolt on mine.
It was rusted and full of dirt. The spring was rust badly and snapped on me. These springs aren't some special item? Should be able to get at a parts...
Well, I had Uhaul do a hitch for me. I am pleased with the work. The bolts were badly rusted and missing threads. It took 2 guys almost an hour to get these rusted bolts off.
It would have taken myself a lot longer to do the work. I didn't have Uhaul do the wiring.

I haven't had any issues with my Uhaul store concerning there tow hitch installs. This Uhaul store installed the hitch on my Nissan Murano that just towed a M101a2 over 300 Miles with no issues. As for Uhaul rental I agree it is beat to He$$, but on the other hand rental things are.
Yes...
The GM Part Number should be 25032661. That's the part number on the box for cable that fit my M1009.
GM Parts Giant has them listed for $45. It seems that Part Number 25032661 was replaced with Part Number 88959480.
Hope this helps.

Jan 14, 2013 Update
It has been brought to my...
Yesterday I post something on repairing my pintle hook http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?99885-Pintle-Hook-Repair
This got me thinking I have been wanting to add a receiver hitch to CUCV for a while that is versatile where I can attach different accessories to the receiver hitch. I...
I recently replaced my heater core. If you replace your heater core it's not to bad. From research I did on SS don't get the aluminum heater cores. China Junk. They don't get as hot as the original brass/copper heater cores from Harrison get.
I pulled mine and had a radiator shop look at it...
The Pintle Hook on M1009 is rust, Frozen, or both? The lever on top won't budge at all to release the hook.
I tried WD-40 and PB Blaster with no luck. If I took a hammer to it might move? I am not going to try it.
I noticed 2 bolts that looks like it hold it together. If I could maybe some...
I recovered my first military trailer today. I found a M101a2 in very good condition and great price. I towed it it 300 miles today back to Nashville. The tires are good, No rust, hand brakes work, and bearing seem good. The surge work for sure. On the interstate today had to make sudden...
cpf240,
That's the answer I was looking for thank You. With regard to the voltage gauge it is all relative from one CUCV to the next.
Your idea of belt slippage is looking good. I hope to start checking it out this weekend or early next week.
Thanks,

Warthog,
Thanks. I will check Gen 1 ground wire.
Let me ask you about voltage gauge readings. Should I expect the voltage gauge to hit the white tick/marking on the gauge? Currently I am getting a good solid green reading, but not on the white tick/marking.
Currently I am leaning towards...
