Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

I got wondering if I imagined it, so I went back out there this morning and looked again. Yes, the little blue and silver tag says Motorola, 12V, 40A. I took a picture w/ my phone, but it still hasn't forwarded:mad:. So, please post if you can shed some light on this. Jack

Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

I'm glad to hear that, because when I saw it I thought the same thing. When I looked at the little blue and silver tag on the top of the alt yesterday I saw 12V 40A Motorola. But, I've been wrong before, so I'll double check it today. Jack

Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

M35A2 converted to 12V? I’ve searched the threads but haven’t found anything like this in them. Grateful for any info or advice you can give me. But I’m not an auto electric expert, so use small words. :? Thanks! There is only one alternator on this truck. It is a 12V 40A. It’s mounted...

Great thread! I've read about half of it so far and looking forward to the rest. Nice work on your truck, good posts from others, great pictures. Jack

Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

Man is that the truth. I've walked past this truck for about 10 years. Never gave it much thought (couldn't see much of it). But now that I've laid my hands on it, cleaned it up a bit and started to think about the possiblities, it's really become important to me. Jack

Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

I made a little progress on Friday. Cut down some of the trees and I'm now able to open both doors! Strung together about 200 feet of garden hose, then hosed and shoveled about 40 years of junk and debris out of the cab. Did the same with extension cords and used the shop vac to get what was...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

Well, no progress to report on M220 #1, still tinkering with the ignition and wondering if there's a blockage in the carb. Also, spending a lot of time helping out on the farm. But the A1 is back on the road again. Both advance springs in the dist were gone, local mechanic replaced them with...

    Boyce Remanufactured 2 1/2 ton 6 x 6

Thanks for the additional info! The numbers and letters were very light, I had to read them very carefully and use my imagination to see some of them. Whoever was swinging the hammer that day must have been tired. I thought I could see something in front of the "E", couldn't make it out...

    Boyce Remanufactured 2 1/2 ton 6 x 6

Thanks again for the engine info, I've put it in the log book for future. Radiator: it sprayed coolant last week after running engine a short while. Read on SS not to fill tank all the way, just to top of core, so did that this morning and also installed new thermostat. Started it and let it...

    Boyce Remanufactured 2 1/2 ton 6 x 6

Thank you! I've been guessing 350 all along, but hadn't considered school bus/c60. Putting new thermostat in it today and going to see if the radiator can be saved. Jack

    Boyce Remanufactured 2 1/2 ton 6 x 6

Okay, got one, this is the stamped number at the right front: E6094055V0614TMX. The numbers and letters are very light, but I think I guessed correctly. Was not able to see the numbers on the left rear. The engine is quite close to the firewall and I can't get in there to clean that area or...

    My GMC, a little update

According to a show I watched a few years back, the Vikings had an expression: "No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing." There is a lot of truth in that expression. I've lived in North Dakota and Idaho, so I have some experience with the cold. Spend the $$$ to buy good clothing and...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

Yeah, roger that! Fire scares the heck out of me. Always very careful and the hose is hanging off the side of the truck.[thumbzup]

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

Jeep? Our A1 quit running a couple of weeks ago, we got it up on the trailer and it's been there ever since. I've been using my time to work on the trucks. But I'm missing the Jeep so I'm taking tomorrow morning off from the trucks to see if I can get it running. Found a broken advance...

Great attitude, hang in there! Many have gone through tough times only to find at the other end that good things happened as a result. Hope you find the same thing. Jack

Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

Plowboy, Thanks for the question. Actually planning to do that stuff. I like to take my time when starting old internal combustion stuff so I don't do more harm than good. APM 215 gave me filter numbers in an earlier post in this thread. Now if that darn M220 #1 would just fire up, I could...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

Got a few pops, but not running yet Only had a little "truck time" today. M220 #1 gave a few weak pops this morning, but refused to start. 2 new batteries. Has spark, but doesn't look too strong. Going to clean up the points and pull the plugs out of the M38A1 to give them a try. Also, the...

Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

The engine is free We're back at the trucks for a while. Didn't have much "truck time" today (moved a lot of sprinkler pipe and helped out on the ditch) but I did check the engine in the M35A2 and it is free. So is the clutch. Hoping to get working on it later this week. Yes, I'm going to...
