No snakes. Just wolves and grizzly bears . . .
Not too long ago a pack of wolves came into the farmyard a couple hundred yards from where the truck sits and killed one of the dogs.
This spring a mama griz and her two cubs were seen less than a mile away.
We always travel prepared . . .
Excellent, thanks! Sounds just like what I did a few years back when I had to get an old Cat D-4 running. I may be getting ahead of myself here because I haven't checked to see if the engine is free. But, if it is, I'll try it.

Video of engine running
What's all the smoke you say? That's the hydraulic fluid that I pumped all over the engine the other day when I pushed the little silver button on the dashboard.
Tried to upload it directly to SS, but didn't work. File too big?
So, for those who are...
Yes!;-)
Seemed like there was water coming from several places. Shut it off right away so didn't really get a chance to evaluate.
When Boyce did the reman they built a stout steel framework to hang the radiator on. Looks to me like I could put just about any radiator that fits, is large...
Yes, could do that after some chainsaw work. I'm always a bit concerned about bad wiring, especially from mice. I can't get a hose to it where it now sits. Had that happen one spring when I started a car that had sat in the garage all winter. Car filled up with smoke while I was driving it...
I haven't paid much attention to it yet either, but I think it attaches to the engine w/ a couple of metal lines, one in from the engine, one back out to the engine.
Here's an engine picture, you can see part of the filter mounted to the fender.
Yeah, we got lucky on those parts. Nice to...
Boyce 1 started, ran and drove today!
Wahoo! I am stoked!
I drained the gas tank this morning expecting to find a bunch of gunk that would take a few days to get out, but when I shined the flashlight in I saw nice clean steel.
So, I quickly drove to town for some new fuel line...
Spare parts
My son-in-law's dad was an excellent gatherer of things he might need in the future, so I wasn't surprised the other day when I looked up on some shelves in the shop and saw some shapes I recognized.
Two Holley carbs w/ governors, one inst. panel w/ gauges, one oil filter...
Started thread on M35A2
I've started a thread on the 1966 Kaiser Jeep M35A2 in the Deuce forum. Take a look if interested. Hoping to get started working on it next week.
I've decided to start this thread now even though it will probably be a week or two before I begin working on this truck. It is a 1966 Kaiser Jeep according to the data plate on the dash.
My "little summer project" is to get some old military trucks running for my son-in-law. He recently...
Oh yes you did. Go to post #63 dated June 16 in this thread. I made a special trip out to the trucks on Saturday night to take the pics (got eaten up by mosquitos) and posted them in the Boyce Reman thread. See post #20 in that thread.
Ha! lol! Maybe not full-blooded, but definite tendencies in that direction. Every time I drive my M38A1 across the front lawn to get it into the back yard and park it next to the other two Jeeps under Costco tarps I figure the neighbors are thinking the same thing.
After getting the engines in both trucks to turn over today it was time to do some serious cleaning in the cabs. They were both full of decades of dirt, trash and other debris. Here's the after picture.
Also, hendersond asked about the defroster vents. They're gone. No ducts underneath the...

Boyce 1 turned over today
After 10-15 years of sitting in that potato cellar, Boyce 1 turned over today. The battery I had didn't have much life in it, so with some help from the "start" mode on the battery charger, the engine turned over nicely.
And, you know that pump you all identified as...
