Why do we have so many threads about block heaters and how they work? Really now.
Water heats and moves, hot up cool down very simple. And the thermostat is not even relevant in regard to a block heater. The water will heat and warm the steel around it even if a little.

With proper maintenance and lack of abuse I think second gear is fine. My opinion only mind you. Also mine goes into second just fine. I just can't see any reason unloaded why second is so bad. Especially when the truck is bobbed and weighs less.
Would someone please help me understand why we should not take off in second gear? Why would the load on second gear with an empty truck be any worse than taking off in first gear with a loaded truck and shifting to second. Or even shifting to second on a hill. I am not sure the torque load is...
What size heater are you using? If you are running too large of a heater it can boil the water around it and run too hot.
Also is there any possibility of air in your system or low coolant level? That can also burn them out after you park and shut down as the element can become partially or...

We got a little bit of snow last night nothing big but here they are.
I can't wait to get out today turn on the heat and go recover the less than cautious ones that always end up off of the road and in the ditches. Four inches of snow can ruin the day for some.
