Snow blades have a rubber boot to cover the open areas of the wiper blade to prevent them from filling with ice and snow.

Here in Mi. where I am located we are getting snowed on a bit. So far today we have gotten about 4 or so inches and the wipers worked great. The heater kept the truck warm and the windows clear and the wipers worked..
As far as I am concerned the wipers are a great success I am very pleased.
First let me say welcome, then let me speak for all of the SS family when I say "Only one for the moment" . You should have stuck to the chips....LOL ;-). Seriously good luck.
If you make it up my way again I will be happy to take you over to my post and buy you a bottle "o" cheer.
I enjoy going to other posts to meet new folks and hear new stories.

Wish me luck.

Update:
We here in my part of Oakland County got freezing drizzle last night and while out driving my truck I tried the wipers and HOLY COW they worked and I could see. No streaking, gaps not being cleaned or screeching, just a clean windshield. Life is good.
2-4 inches of snow is being...
I have absolutely no idea regarding the wiper motors I have never seen any like that. At some point I hope the Deuce Gurus will let us know. The winch truck is running stock 9.00s and mine is running 11.00 Michelins.
The winch truck is overall not in too bad of shape rust holes on the hood...
Get a different truck. The Deuce we all know and love has limitations and we accept them as such. Part of the joy in driving one is going slow enough to enjoy the scenery and to see things you would otherwise miss.
