    12 volt conversion question

I did use the Rosscommon procedure, and was curious about permanently deleting all the extra wiring.

    12 volt conversion question

I had a starter go out on my 1009, could not find a locally available 24 volt starter. I decided to go 12 volt to make my vehicle a little more common on parts availability.I am almost finished with the project, waiting to pick up my new cables. My question is this: I am an anti-clutter freak...

Installed new glow plugs and now nothing? HELP

The manual over ride came after the problem. I think the ac60's wired off of one battery are causing a longer cycle, at a lower amp draw ( according to the gauge), but the system seems to be working.

Installed new glow plugs and now nothing? HELP

I just wired a momentary switch off the blue wire side of the solenoid (along with the wire that was already there). After trying my new switch a few times, the "factory" system started working also. I am thinking my solenoid is either dying or just forgot what it was supposed to be doing...

Installed new glow plugs and now nothing? HELP

I have been having hard start issues when cold. When it does start it runs real rough until it warms. The glow plug circuit was cycling, can hear the solenoid click, and the voltage drops while it clicks. I put a set of new AC delco glow plugs in, and wired the solenoid off the front battery's +...

    Help ID this injector

I want to order some injectors for my 1984 1009, the seller asked for my injector #, I got this off the old injectors and he said the # doesn't mean anything to him? "BKCA 18S48 BJG CAV" Anybody recognize this injector, is it long / short , coarse / fine?

Sooo, I test drove a deuce today..questions for the bobbers

Let me give a little more info: I drive a 38,000 lb. fire truck for a living, so big and unwieldly are areas of familiarity. The deuce did not like to turn well at all, an average 2 lane dirt road was like a 9 point turn around. Acceleration was so so (was kinda prepared for it ), but seemed...

Sooo, I test drove a deuce today..questions for the bobbers

I went and test drove a deuce today. A M35a2 cont. engine, the body is ready to fall off the frame(rust) , the brakes took 4 good pumps to slow it down from 25 mph on a dirt road (was scared to go any faster with no brakes). To say the least this vehicle seemed worn out, and ready to collapse. I...

Am I having a pipe dream?

I drive about 14 miles, every 3rd day (firefighter), I have a newer crew cab cummins dodge, my plan was to sell it after getting the cucv to run on wmo, now hoping a deuce will help with my idea. I was also planning to buy an ex-police interceptor as a backup for daily driving. I own the dodge...

    1009 Blue and Black smoke?

I just drove it to work, and topped the tank off with diesel, to dilute my existing WMO mix down to less than 10%. I have a little blue smoke under hard throttle, do these things always smoke a little, or is mine just screwed up?

Am I having a pipe dream?

I called the North Carolina Dept. of Revenue, unless the vehicle is over 21000 or 26000 lbs. (don't pin me on the exact#, but it was way more than a deuce), they don't have a way to track efficiently, and say they don't think alternative fuel use is high enough to justify trying to tax it here...

Am I having a pipe dream?

Are any of you driving your trucks on a daily basis?

    1009 Blue and Black smoke?

Please tell more about the fuel adjustment, I have always wondered about the 14 mpg that it gets, maybe it is too high.

    1009 Blue and Black smoke?

The air filter is new, I even tried taking the foam prefilter off to give it more air. The blue smoke does for the most part quit as soon as the engine warms up. It never puts out black smoke , unless there is wmo in the mix.

Am I having a pipe dream?

I currently own a m1009 cucv, and have not been having good luck on alternative fuel (WMO). I have a gentleman wanting to trade me a 1971 M35A2 (WOW, now that is a real MV) with the continental multi fuel ( he claims ), it has the winch, a homemade flatbed, and some rust. Are these things truly...

    1009 Blue and Black smoke?

My cucv puts out blue smoke on straight diesel and black smoke on a 75/25 diesel/wmo mix. It also idles a little rough when cold on both fuels, almost like a miss. Any ideas? The smoke seems a bit excessive, and it did not use to do it as bad. I am wondering about my injectors?

    CUCV black smoke,power loss?

I am filtering with bag filters @ 25, 10, 5, then 1 micron. Using a 75 micron first to catch the big stuff. Oh, and I have a large magnet in the first bag. Is there any place to get the injectors tested/repaired? Can't find anything local.

    CUCV black smoke,power loss?

I was thinking about trying some "seafoam" to try and clean things up a little. Also starting to wonder about the polymers in the synthetic gear oil?

    CUCV black smoke,power loss?

I drove it to work today. Seems to be smoking a little bit less, and making a little more power. Do you think I might have boogered the injectors from going to rich and having poor combustion?
