    8 lug rim question

The modern (okay, 94+) Dodge rims will fit but the backspacing is too deep and their might be hub issues. Their backspacing is around 6" and the center hole ranges from will barely fit to get out the mill... Oh, and GM and Dodge still use the standard 8x6.5" lug pattern even today. I have...

Intro and a couple of questions guys.

Great starting platforms and thanks to their 73-87(91) GM bloodline they're sorta the tinker toys of vehicle building/modifying. If you want to do something to it chances are GM either made a bolt on or nearly bolt on part at some point or there's an aftermarket part for it. This forum is...

    Jimmy/K5/CUCV family

Well, you're on borrowed time with the axles and 700R4 if the axles aren't geared properly for the tires. 4.56:1 would be ideal. No, GM never put a tag on their axles except when they used Dana axles. However if you look in your glove box the RPO codes should be in there on a big sticker and...

30 deg climb in temps + snow = Big Ugly plays tow truck in the slush!

Some shots from Saturday. 8" of slush on the driveway. The third shot over are the Big Ugly tracks. Yes, I parked my Tracker on the porch just so it didn't sink into the slush and then freeze in place overnight...did that once last year and talk about a PITA right before leaving for work...:-x

Nice K5! What year? Gotta be 89-91. The pinnacle of these trucks with that great TBI engine. Nice power, good mileage, and simple fuel injection. Yes, manual hubs are better aside from requiring you to get out and lock them in. Just lock them in before you plan on wheeling and call it good...

    ? about adding lights m1009

This sounds like the way to do it. That's what I am planning on. Ring terminal on the stud next to the brake master cylinder supplies 12v to the supplied relays and fuses with the lights and the supplied switch in the cab. No need to get too fancy with this as there's TONS of aftermarket...

30 deg climb in temps + snow = Big Ugly plays tow truck in the slush!

I think I bounced it off the rev limiter a few times getting out of the garage...forgot it wasn't truly in 4x4...hubs were unlocked! After that it was fairly boring. I've got a shot of the "Big Ugly tacks" in the slush that show off my grooving rather nicely.

30 deg climb in temps + snow = Big Ugly plays tow truck in the slush!

Yep, Big Ugly stays the winter in the garage. My DD sits in the snow. They don't just salt the roads here...they sorta coat them in the stuff. It's a few weeks after the snow is gone before they are truly clear of the salt. Takes several heavy rains to do it. Best method is to just not...

30 deg climb in temps + snow = Big Ugly plays tow truck in the slush!

Eh, it's a nice ride. With a limited slip and/or better tires I bet it'd chewed through the stuff. Mainly needed better tires. My Tracker on 31" muds and XL7 on 29" muds got through it several times that day and both have open diffs. <----not a brand loyalist, owned a Ranger before this, a...

http://s554.photobucket.com/albums/jj433/AJMBLAZER/?action=view&current=BigUglypullsexplorer.flv Okay, the backstory. SIL and BIL have a 2001 Ford Explorer 4 door. Nice enough family vehicle now that they have a kid and their dog. Basic SLT with yadda yadda and open difs front and rear with...

    brick walls

The light switch going bad is common. For some reason GM routed the power through the light switch and then down to the lights. Over time this leads to burnt out switches and the infamous dim headlights. There are relatively cheap fixes for this available commercially. They change it so the...

CUCV M1028 Compatability with civian Blazer? (14 bolt front and rear, front bumper.)

I'll also recommend CK5. Lots of good tech there for these era GM trucks. As mentioned before the Dana 60 front axle will bolt in and the 14FF will require the spring perches to be removed and then replaced in the correct place. 1 ton trucks like these have different rear spring spacing than...

    700R4 Wiring info

Eh, about 11 years ago my dad cooked the 700R4 in our '92 and paid a good amount of money to have it rebuilt with some beef. It can be done but it isn't cheap and you have to find a rebuilder who knows what they are doing.
