    CUCV speaker bar

You stick a base to the metal and the light mounts to it. Sticks just fine cold or hot and you'd have to destroy the truck to get it to come off.

    CUCV speaker bar

I'm 30 but four years in the Marines around F-18's at take off burn and a lifetime of guns and loud vehicles have made me appreciate my hearing. I think you'd get better quality speakers and sound by just buying the appropriate speakers for the dash, doors, and/or rear sides next to the seat...

    CUCV speaker bar

Do you already have speakers in the more conventional places? Seems to me that those speakers would more or less just sit there and deafen you. Didn't like them in my buddy's Jeep as by the time they were loud enough to hear over the wind noise they were screaming and oy yeah, barely a foot...

    My CUCV

Frankly speaking, especially considering the miles and condition, that's an excellent price. An advertiser here sells "reconditioned" trucks with more miles than that and hidden problems for 2-3 times that price.:| Going rates on CK5 and other GM truck sites says that's a great price.

    wheel offset

Go join www.ColoradoK5.com . The mecca for this era GM fullsize truck and modifying them. LOTS of members in your area. Define some trimming? I've got narrow 38's on the factory rims with fender cutting and 1" of front lift. 36's should fit if you keep them narrow and don't go wide on the...

    m1009 highways speeds

His truck is already lifted on 35's I believe. 15x8's fit 35x12.5R15's just fine. Been done gazillions of times. Regearing to 3.73 or 4.10's would be best along with fixing the speedo (although I haven't even done the later yet...45mph = 55mph ish)

    m1009 highways speeds

Faster. The 35's have effectively raised your gear ratio to something in the 2.xx:1 range. Put some 38's on and you'd need a push start but could probably run Bonneville.

m16ty says he's done with this thread. Guess we'll never hear the explanation for that one.

    Insurance ???????

DDoyle is wrong then. It's a standard GM K30 pickup with some military spec parts in the starting and charging system to make it 24v. Every part under it is from the parts catalog for the K30's of that era. Not to mention... ...the difference between the K20's and the K30's it the rear...

    Insurance ???????

Must be a local thing. I have State Farm here in Michigan and other than having a hard time reading the VIN because of the military/postal numeral they just insured it as a 1986 Chevy K30 pickup. With full coverage it's cheaper than my Tracker with PLPD. Different states have different rules...

    35's and shifting?

I've got 38's and it still shifts pretty early. I'm in 3rd by 40-45mph at the most.

    CDR Valves No Longer Available

My five arrived today. Thanks again to m38 for sending them again. Damn post office. Our tax dollars at work. They're in AT LEAST the same condition as the NOS GM/ACDelco one I bought last year for four times his price. Great deal!

Need general deisel tips, getting my first friday

Big Ugly typically has a hight idle when you're starting it cold. Colder temps and it stays on longer while in 100 degree days it usually doesn't even have the high idle. I usually just wait for it to go down to the normal idle before I drive it. As far as driveablility goes, well...it's no...

Need general deisel tips, getting my first friday

4x4xGod over on CK5 sells a nice fuel additive. I run it and like it. Gets good reviews from members over there. After switching to it I got less smoke on start up and it seemed to me at least to run a little better. That said I used to run Power Service in Big Ugly before I switched to his...

    Bigger Tires with 4.56 gears

38's and the stock setup are pretty good. I like the way mine drives. Wish it had more power but I'm not unhappy with what I have. In the future it will have more power and a better transmission setup but hey, that's the future.

    Dana 44's on an m1009

What he said. Chear and easier to just find a set of 3/4 ton Chevy axles. There was a set on the local Craigslist recently with 4.10's for $500.

    Dana 44's on an m1009

A Chevy D44 and a 10 bolt are a wash as far as stength goes. The only reason to swap one out for the other is if one has upgraded parts or you're getting the gears you want or 8 lugs to match a rear axle. This is in the front. A rear D44 isn't GM and is a waste. A D44 and 14 bolt rear would...
