That panel looks repairable to me. Trace out a patch of the same gauge and weld it up.Grind down any exess weld and top it off with seam-sealer and it will look factory.Did that to the floor of my GMC, came out nice. Some JERK thought he needed a bigger hole in the floor to check the brake fluid...
My thoughts are with you guys.I wouldn't trade my GMC for anything. Not to say I wouldn't want a wrecker or a diesel deuce but my truck is a keeper. In the coming years I feel these GMCs will go up in value quite a bit because of the rarity of well preserved trucks. So keep them if you have them...
Ebay is all of what YOU make of it. There are some great deals and then you can really get screwed if your not careful. If bidding gets out of hand, I just back out.You have to know what your biiding on and how much it's worth.I have done very well on ebay. The only time I will pay a higher price...
Are you going to replace all the brake lines? When I started getting into my M-211, I noticed some weak brake lines so I figured I'd replace just those but as I started thinking about it [ blown brake line NOOO BRAKES] I decided to change them all with the NAPA coated brake lines.I mean all of...

I have been following this post for days now and thought it would end after a few opinions but obviously it must be a sore spot. First I must say I love this site and I feel all of the people on it are great. If some one asks a...
RE: videos & Photos of rebuilding transmission
Great website Steve. Looks like the deuce is coming along nicely. I don't think a lot of people realize what is involved in restoring a military vehicle or why we even do it. Realy can't explain it but everyone who owns one knows why! Keep posting...
Thanks for the carb info Steve. That is one manual I don't have. Glad to see someone posting info on the EARLY DEUCES for a change. All the other stuff is very interesting but doesnt help the guys with gassers. Would like to see a lot more posts about the trucks we have.
If you ever decide to go to 12 volts, PAINLESS WIRING makes a complete 12 volt wiring harness with fuse box. That is the way to go.Very easy to install and great diagrams. Walks you through it all the way. Had to do it on my M-37 cause someone was in there hacking away before I got the truck...
The manifold on my truck is in perfect shape so far. No leaks or discoloration but if it gives me any trouble I won't try to put some used , warped piece of junk on it. I have a friend who owns a performance shop and he is working on finding headers for the 302. If they make them, he will find...
Never had a manifold crack from a retorque. Many tech manuals even recomend it. Most manifolds crack because of vibration and EXCESS HEAT. Poor air-fuel mixture can contribute to manifold cracking because of the fuel igniting in the manifold. Not using the proper exaust hangers can also be a...
After installing the manifold , do you retighten when the manifold is hot? That has worked for me on many strait-sixes .The manifold has to be true of course first. I'm looking into performance exaust for my truck. I may even try to make a set of headers for it.
Thanks Steve for all you are doing. I was going to rebuild my old tranny but didn't want to pull it out again if there was a problem. Wish this thread was going on before I bought a rebuilt unit. Not knowing what to look for was my biggest concern but now you are taking care of that. Thanks again.
