Great find! Looks to be a solid truck. Not to worry about parts, many places to get them from. A few guys on this site have some stuff also. Do a search and start shopping! Welcome to the site.
Man, that's doing it the hard way. For about 300.00 bucks you could by a blaster and media and be done with the whole bed in a few hours. After your done with your truck you can make back the money for the blaster by doing stuff for other people. Thats how I paid for my blasting equipment. But...
Looks to me that - signal terminal is hooked up to the negative side of the coil. Where did you find it? I have been looking for a 24 volt tach myself. My gasser has a reb- shift kit and a tach would be very helpful in shifting.
Tim, M215 is pretty much right on. I would definatly start out with a fresh oil and filter change with that kind of mileage. I always use Lucus oil additive in my GMC and in my Big Block 70 Chevelle race car. I used it in my M-37 and plowed with it for 6 years without an engine failier. A lot of...
Those trucks don't look in that bad of shape.Of course it's hard to tell without more information but it would seem a shame to cut them up for scrap and axles. I'm sure some of them are restorable. I think trading for axles is a great idea to keep them from the torch and scrap yard.
The brakes MUST be adjusted before performing any bleeding procedures. If you are not loosing any fluid I don't think you have an airpack problem. Since brake pressure is greater than air pressure I don't see air from the airpack getting in the system. Adjust the brakes first then bleed from the...
I have had the sickness since I was a kid. Used to build models of army trucks and artillery when I was much younger. Would still do it if I could see better.LOL Now I am able to have the real thing. There is no cure just treatment. BUYING MORE MVs!
Welcome to the site! On the running out of fuel problem, check the fuel filter in the tank first. If that is ok then check fuel pump volume ect. The other thing it may be is a low float level in the carb causing it to run out of fuel and recover when it comes to an idle. Make sure there is no...
Did you look deep in the bolt hole? You may find whats left of the bolt in the threads. If it is a broken bolt, it's not that big of a deal. Most of the time the bolt either loosens up or the rear support bracket is missing causing the starter to twist and shear off a bolt. You can actually see...
Every radiator I have ever bought has always come painted black. Being in the fleet business I have bought a lot of them. Even the repair shop paints them black. It does help with heat transfer. The only ones that are natural are the aluminum cores.
I do understand the concern about the brake systems on our trucks and I wish there was another reasonable way around it. I have had many vintage vehicles with single master cylinders and honestly have never had a brake failier. But on the other hand I have always completly replaced all brake...
As I have said before, solid, clean and unmolested post war GMCs are getting rarer all the time. If you have a solid truck it would be a huge mistake to cut it up. I would go with the singles and keep the rest original. There are plenty of other candidates to cut up if you choose.
