Well I finally got around to installing the ORD, braided stainless steel brake lines today. WOW! they make a big difference in the braking! Much more responsive to input, and they seem to grab much better as well. Everything bled out super easy also.
So my drivers side rear axle flange developed a small leak. When I went to undo the bolts 2 of them sheard off. I was able to easily unscrew the broken shanks with my fingers. So I assume they must have just bin over tightened? I stuck 2 random bolts I had in my stash to get buy till I can get...
Yeah I disagree with route the shop went. Chances are the 30+ year old springs are clapped out. Adding a leaf is only a band aid fix and will just make the front stiff as a board. It would have probably bin cheaper to just do a 2.5" lift kit. It definitely would be a better ride.2cents
Quick, cheap, easy, and better springs is the skyjacker kit. ORD makes really good stuff, but it's a lot more work and mite cost a little more. Also they're 2.5" shackle flip kit ands up being more like 4".
Agree with the others, sounds like a $500.00 for the whole truck would be a more reasonable deal. My trans guy quoted me $600.00 to pull, rebuild, re-install my trans and have it done in a day.
I've always just used a vise and a couple sockets. One with a smaller O.D. then the cups, and one with a larger I.D. then the cups. Stick them in the vise, (tape them together if you want) and press them out.
Not sure how or why you would replace the cam but not remove and replace the lifters before hand:popcorn:. But the only way your going to get them out now is to remove the cam, get an old wrapping paper tube, cut a slice length wise, slide it in the cam hole so you can catch the lifters as you...
I drive my M1028 on 500 mile trips routinely. We live in a world with Walmart's and auto parts stores at every exit. I use my computerized cellular telephone as my speedometer and my navigation. If ever I've had a problem I just stop at the nearest store and fix it in the parking lot. Bring a...
Have you checked your clutch fan? I'm not sure about the ones on our trucks? But I know some of them fail locked, so as to not over heat the motor. Also, don't quote me on this but, I seem to remember that the coolant flows through the drivers side head first. If so that could also give a false...
That sounds like it could be a bad or wrong thermostat. Where do you have your temp gauge sensor mounted? If in the water pump that would be the problem.
Good point. But couldn't you just set the head in place, then install the studs? I assume the block has dowels right? The reason I ask is mine is turbo charged now. And I figure (ARP) went through all the trouble to make a set of studs for our oddball motors. So maybe they saw a reason,.. other...
