The Stanadyne Model 80 box filter works well when they are not leaking, but unfortunately a lot of them end up leaking over time. I usually change them out to spin ons myself, but the one on my M1009 doesn't leak a drop, so I haven't touched it. Ironically the highest milieage 6.2 truck I ever...
I agree. If the truck isn't a daily driver, I'd just freshen up or stroke the 318, go with a towing cam and maybe a 4 bbl, and it will run a lot stronger than it did stock.
I'm planning on making it this year. Our house in May, so I missed that last one, but lord willing, I'll be there this year. I love looking at real miltary trucks!
I would do that before I'd hook that monster to my truck and actually rely on the truck to pull it, track it, and stop it. You still had control of the steering and braking of that M813. That MK17 is going to have control of that M880 too, except its not going to have a driver! :)
No, 8 psi is fine as long as the fuel isn't turned up high. You'll have to turn up the fuel in the IP when you add the turbo, and a 1/4 turn is the good starting point. The Banks system comes with gauges, so get them out the truck if you can. They come with the a temp gauge, EGT gauge, and a...
Warner Robins auctioned off (7) M1008's last Thurs, and (12) M1009's and (1) M1028 today. Camp Shelby (MS) just listed a bunch in last day or two. There are still a bunch of them out there, but they seem to be a little rougher all the time. There was not one of the M1009's that sold to today...
I have been doing nitpicky stuff like replacing the speedo cable, fixing the fuel gauge, replacing door strikers, installing the block heater, etc, but none of that stuff is pic worthy. I did come with a pretty slick idea on some wheel spacers, and I have some pics. I have always been bugged by...
No, that's pretty much it. The civi engines and CUCV longblocks are interchangeable once everything is stripped off them. Good luck with the project and give us a yell if you run into a snag.
The H1 headers do flow a little better, but they require the exhaust being altered to fit. Some people have mentioned they don't work well on the trucks because of clearance on one of the outlets, but I've personally never tried them. I usually turbocharge my engines, so I have no need for them.
93 - 99 6.5TD's (up 2002 in 3500HD) will all work on 6.2's. The 6.2's never came from the factory with turbos, but the Banks kit was dealed installed from '89 - '92. The '93 - '94 GM-3 turbo will work as is because it has a spring actuated wastegate controller set at around 6psi. The later ones...
BTW, that is the EPR (Exhaust Pressure Regulator) and it controls a valve in the manifold. It restricts the exhaust on that side to divert it up to the EGR in the intake. This only came on C code engines. Make sure you put your non EGR J code intake off the military engine as well.
No, you won't come to 50HP with marine injectors and 2 1/2 pipes. The marine injector subject has been beat to death, but in short you can not increase the fuel on N/A 6.2 enough to gain 50 HP without a turbo. No way, no how. You can barely increase it enough to get 5 - 10 HP more, and even then...
