I know, I have my trans and flywheel out. I don't know how to get the rear main seal and it's housing out though. I need to replace my seal and add the drain holes (per TM), but I don't have the TM section about removing the seal housing.
Actually, take a tape and measure between the top of the front axle and the bottom of the frame of each truck. Guarantee that's where the different is at.
When I added mine, I was VERY clear about what kind of vehicle it was. I described every bit of the truck and the operator was "familiar" with them. I explained the weight, 6x6 and everything. I was never informed they had a 10k pound limit. Not saying it isn't true, but if it is, they don't...
I might pick up one of those in the future, but in the meantime, my engine hoist worked great. Just so long as I can work on the truck on a paved surface, lol.
Better yet, I'll give you $10 and you can pick me up? lol
Work allowing, I'll be at the shoot most of Friday and most of Saturday. I might be trading an AK for a CETME. Then I'll need to buy some magazines and .308 ammo.
At least they didn't deadline your truck... cut/steal something important or etc. Think of it in a good way, the ONLY thing they took were the shackles. Oddly, another guy and I were just talking about stuff like this today. Apparently Harlan is getting very bad about disappearing equipment.
I didn't really think of it that way. I'm going to call a local clutch place about a flywheel. I'll talk to them about the pressure plate as well. Maybe I can have it rebuilt locally. If it's cheaper than buying a new one that is. Otherwise, I'll just get a new PP as well from Saturn.
Sliding sideways is the worst when off-roading. It's unpredictable and no way to control it once it happens.
Good luck in your recovery. It's one thing being stuck on private land. It's a completely different ball game to be stuck on public land.
I used an engine hoist and some chain. It was the perfect length. I just lowered the transmission straight down and set it on the ground with some 4x4's underneath it. I'm just going to rough up the pressure plate and be done with that. I'm stuck at the flywheel though.
I'm replacing the...
Well, engine hoist through the passenger door was a charm. Took just a little muscle, otherwise the hoist did everything. Unloading the pressure plate levers was harder than dropping the tranny. I used my floor jack handle, a filed junk castle nut and some junk bolts. I got it unloaded and...
I've looked for some good pictures of that truck. It looks like a wo/w truck, but has some kind of aftermarket winch bolted on the front of the bumper?
If you've worked with barb fittings AT ALL (fuel lines?), you'll know what to do. All you have to do is put a barb fitting on the pressurized side of the intake and run that to the gauge. Sometimes the turbo (I don't know about the Deuce turbo) has a port right on the compressor housing.
