TM America I agree with your last post there. If he isn't looking for a 6x6, then a modified 4x4 w/ 2.5t axles would be better than a bobber. A 3/4 ton diesel 4x4 pickup, remove old axles and install Deuce axles. Get wheels and tires to fit your plans (46"ers probably).
C&C - That's why...
Pull the head off, that'll let you know if you really need to rebuild it or not. If the cylinders aren't pitted from rust, a light hone might clean them up. Surprisingly I've seen a motor that sat outside for years clean up with a hone and using some .001" oversized rings. It's not the best...
I sold off some of the ole muscle car parts that I've been hoarding and raised the money to fix the truck. I had to (figureatively speaking) beat my wife away with a stick when I had that much cash on me at once though.
As far as updating the housing, there's a page in one of the TM's about...

I don't have an answer to your question, but I like the camo of the first truck. Off the bat, it looks like the MERDC pattern, but I'm nowhere near an expert.
I seen a Deuce out at the shoot. Looked like the older camo pattern. Bed had bows and stakes, but no cover and a soft top on the cab. It was a turbo truck w/w as well.
I have city water and my stove and hot water heater are both gas. So I think a MEP-003A would be more than enough power for my home and maybe even a neighbor, or at least enough to keep their fridge going.
I was thinking about that yesterday, but actually forgot about it. Just curious, what did you use to measure yours? The slide-rule type caliper or tong looking ones? Pardon my lack of technical terms.
Not meaning to thread-jack, but I have a couple of related questions.
Is the MEP003A a good gen set to power a home? I know next to nothing about generators. Can someone point me to a better place to get more information on these gen sets and using a military gen set to power a home? After...
