The two different types of fittings shown here are used on the multifuel engines I have here to look at.
What are the pros and cons? Is a special tool needed to install the top one?
When you are on the road for more than a day or two, the support becomes more and more important. Either moral or or acual physical help.
It can get very lonely out there although the planning when bringing tools and supplies is a large part of feeling okay on the trip.
You may have noticed...
Found on the XM757, this fuel strainer takes the place of the primary fuel filter.
Does anybody know if it's good for life or if it has a replacable element of some kind? Don't want to take it apart if not needed.
The handle turns and the drain works. As with the other fuel filters on this...
The M656 series 5-ton trucks may be few and far between, but it is interesting to note some of the design features of these vehicles. They were designed to mil spec from the ground up.
I'll list features as I go along and "discover" them on the XM757.
Here is one such feature, there is a...
Got a question for the metal working experts, Leonard, Robert Miller and other respected members of this forum.
What alloy steel would I need to specify to have the spacer and the angle mounts fabricated shown in the drawing below?
The spacer is the U-channel part separating the 5th wheel from...
The following items are on my most wanted list:
1) Tire(s) and one wheel.
2) 80 gallon fuel tank(s).
3) Personnel heater with accessories.
TIA for any leads.
PS. I did send a msg to Tom Bauer, just in case.
Mike, I just noticed that the color of the text in the PS Mag section has been changed to purple for some parts of it. Can't read it without highlighting it against my black background. (I prefer black for easier reading of the posts).
Can you pls fix it, thanks.
I'm curious about the "A3" on this tag. This tag was removed from a parts truck in Oklahoma. It was going to the scrapper, so I was able to remove some items.
I had the understanding that the extended service program deuces only had the A3 part number. Rebuilt with super singles, Cat engines...
During my trip across the USA I replaced all the injectors in attempts to eliminate a loud knocking from the engine.
Changing the injectors didn't change engine performance, which was good throughout the trip.
Burning some 300 gallons of biodiesel and used veggie oil added to my suspicion that...
Got a bit of a problem with my oil pressure I think.
I usually run with Texaco Ursa 30 weight, but after the new oil seal installation, I used the Shell Rotella 15-40 (from Walmart).
This is what happens: Right after starting the engine in the morning, the pressure shows about 40 psi. After 1/2...
After a fun filled couple of days with Jon (although I can't say the people at Barstow truck parts were particulairly interested in selling small parts), I'm now on my way back home.
I'll ellaborate on the visit with Jon later, since this is costing a bit of money. The touch screen wastes a lot...
Gary (polverone) delivered the generator from Will late this afternoon and also a decal he made up. I thought it was fitting after the events during the past weeks. :-)
Thanks Gary!
The generator will be installed tomorrow and as a consequence, my departure from Ventura is delayed another day...
I'll be here a couple of days helping my brother in law to build a privacy fence...
Devin (Djfreema) stopped by yesterday in his deuce with his young daughter. It was great fun with two deuces on the street here and the crane was used as a swing for the kids. :-)
There were a lot of pictures...
