Plans for California trip in the works

Might as well make it official, (also posted on the greasecar.com forum), the trip to Georgia will very likely be followed by a roundtrip to the West coast. Primary purpose is to bring a ton of books and stuff for my wife's new job in Ventura and to haul Bruce Beattie's laundry trailer closer...

About valves for biodiesel and WVO

During my first long distance test run with the dual fuel tank system a few months ago when I visited Kenny in Southern Florida, the valves started to malfunction. The valves that makes it possible to switch from diesel to bio and vise versa. I ended up running on the main tank for most of the...

    Biodiesel and dual tanks

Just an observation, using a separate fuel tank for diesel and one for biodiesel/veggie oil offers several advantages. Cold temp operation is of course an obvious one, but the fact that most of the fuel lines, the filters and IP are only exposed to biodiesel when on a drive may be a comfort...

    12v Battery Generator gauge

Is there a mil-spec Bat-Gen gauge similar to the one used in the deuce, but for a 12v system? If so, where could one be found? Thanks,

    The crowded deuce dash

Here follows a listing of locations of controls for the deuce. These are auxiliary items and may not be used all in one given vehicle, but still, it could get pretty crowded even without the dual tank controls (a yours truly special). If any of you find more switches, go ahead and add some images.

    Diff lock side effects

I have no experience with locking differentials and am curious about possible side effects when not used. If a deuce was equipped with these (Norweigan M621), would that decrease mpg, cause problems when taking turns etc? TIA for any info on this.

    The FDC and heated biodiesel

The Fuel "density" compensator on the multifuel responds to changes in the viscosity of the fuel and adjusts fuel delivery accordingly. For the fuels specified in the TM's, the viscosity is directly proportional to the heating value so when this adjustment is made the engine power output remains...

    Trip to Wayne Harris, GA

Looks like I'll be making a quick visit to Wayne's place in Southern Georgia next weekend. I'm picking up an M532 laundry trailer for Bruce Beattie. Eventually the trailer will go cross country to California, but that will be another story. Anybody got something they want brought North a bit (to...

    Nozzle tester

Was looking through one of the engine manuals and found this bench injector nozzle tester. Anybody know if they are available on the surplus market?

    Hydrostatic lock discussion

Apparently this problem has been with the multifuels since day one. This note is from a 1964 PS magazine (image below). I assume that they are talking about the flame heater nozzle valves. If that is so and since it is located below the level of the intake manifold, can someone please explain...

Bridge plate on passenger side door

Found this in a 1968 PS Magazine. Don't recall seeing the bridge plate marking on the door of any vehicle or trailer, was that practice discontinued? Uploaded it here...

Which MV do you own poll

Hey Mike, would it be possible to bring this poll back to the front page again? There hasn't been an increase in the number of votes for quite a while and we should have at least 100 votes to make it a legit statistical result. If you voted before, please don't vote again unless you have more...

    Biodiesel in the beginning

Here is a shot of one typical batch of my home made biodiesel...18 hrs into the mission. Approx 7 gallons of used cooking oil Approx 1-1/2 gallons of methanol Approx 5 ounces of lye The glycerin has separated out and is visible as a layer on the bottom and the biodiesel is ready to be filtered...

LOW fuel level equals LOW fuel pressure

One feature of my dual tank control panel is the "Fuel Flow" indicator. It is controlled by a couple of relays and a low fuel pressure switch in such a way that it turns on when the in-tank fuel pump and the return fuel don't match OR if the fuel pressure is low. Today while doing some crane...

    Circuit Breaker needed

Anybody have a 25-30 amp take-out circuit breaker I could have at low cost plus shipping? I'm rewiring my solenoid valve/dual tank system and need to separate the wiring. Thanks,

    Latest Forum Posts, page 2?

Hey Mike, is it possible to have the "Latest Forum Posts" summary extended so that we don't have to go to the forum categories so soon? Seems like the quantity of posts are such that the summary only covers one day or less. How about adding a page 2 or 3? I feel that posts delegated to the...

    M35A3 Conversion efficiency

The bottom line of any conversion/upgrade should be increased efficiency. So, what is the official MPG for the A3 Cat engine/Automatic/Radial tire equipped deuce? What is the official MPG for the A1/A2 deuce? How do you measure rolling resistance of a tire?

    Fuel temperature question

It should start to get warm in some of the South/Southwestern states by now and I have a question for you deuce owners in those areas; How warm does the fuel get in the deuce fuel tank after sitting at idle in the sun for a while? Would you mind grabbing a thermometer and help me find an...
