Recovry4x4, Kenny, when you mentioned that the "junk dealer" in Ft Lauderdale would help you with the engine swap, how much does he charge for a job like that?
Here is the thing, I need tires, six ea Goodyear G177 type and have enough fuel (biodiesel) for a roundtrip to FL. Is there a deal her...
Occasionally when using the Quick Reply and "submit" it takes me back to the sign-in page and the my message is lost. The forum forgets that I'm already signed in.
When using Quick Reply, I now try to remember to save a copy in case this happens.
Any other solution?
Thanks,
Bjorn
When I sign in, I would like to end up on the page where I was when I decided to sign in, can that be done? Not a critical thing, but it would simplify the procedure when responding to a post.
Thanks
Bjorn
Here is a sequence of images showing the progress of this project. Ideally aluminum should be used instead of copper, but it wasn't as easily available.
This tank will be used as a main fuel tank and a smaller one (10 gallons) will be used for starting and shutting down on petro diesel in cold...
We know that the NDCC's have little traction on wet pavement, but what about DRY pavement? Since slicks are used in various forms of racing wonder how the deuce tires measure up. My guess is that they are better than average on dry asphalt.
I have measured the temperature of the tires with...
I'm thinking about sides for the M756 bed on my deuce and am wondering if the stake pockets are spaced the same as on the cargo trucks (M35's). The ctr-ctr spacing on the pipeline bed is 28 inches.
Meanwhile I'll take a look at some pictures in the parts manuals.
Thanks,
This subject has been touched upon before, but Desert Rat asked about the custom plywood radiator cover on my deuce so here is a reference from the Owner Operator Magazine (Mar/Apr 1977).
Below are pages 1 and 2 of the article. Next post will have pages 3 and 4.
Ran out of fuel today while bringing an LDT-465-1C engine home. Never happend before.
Before leaving for the 65 mile long trip, I checked the fuel level with a dip stick. It showed 2 inches, which is about 8 gallons. Okay, so I figure I'll need about 10 gallons for the trip and add 2 gallons of...
I use my deuce for work and made another delivery yesterday.
Some stats:
Fuel: 20 gallons of home made biodiesel (unwashed), 5 gallons of cooking oil and 20 gallons of petro diesel
Loaded weight: 22,000 lb
Empty weight: 17,000 lb
Driving loaded for 134 miles resulted in a mpg of 6.7.
Driving...
I have taken the liberty to copy this post below from the mil-veh list.
It would certainly be of interest to me and probably many of you Southerners could help make it happen.
Kenny (recovry4x4) is planning a trip to rdixiemiller later this summer and could perhaps extend his trip a little and...
Is there an index, number or an established methode to measure wet pavement traction for commonly used deuce tires? We know the radials are far better than the bias ply NDCC's, but what are the numbers? What about siped NDCC's?
The measurement should apply to new and used (say 50%) tires.
On...
Many of you may be familiar with the articles I have written for MVM. They are there for everyone's benefit. Now, I'm pretty sure there was a listing on this forum with the titles and in what magazine issue they could be found.
I have used the "search" feature, but can't find any reference to...
During our visit to Aberdeen, Bruce Kubu handed me a take-out ether starting aid kit. Many thanks, Bruce! I haven't done much with it besides just looking at it where it sits on the workbench. Eventually, I'd like to install it and if any of you have any experience with it, could you respond...
