Looked through a bunch of newer PS magazines (on CD) and found virtually nothing on our vehicles for the 1999-2005 time period. Lots of FMTV, HMMWV, HEMTT and M900 series.
I did find that a "deuce" is a Deployable Universal Combat Earthmover....

We must live in a different...
Did this some time ago. The old and the new turn signal flashers.
The new electronics uses parts available at your nearest Radio Shack store, a very simple oscillator with a transistor doing the switching. It blows very quickly if overloaded.
The old design was more complicated and uses a 50 amp...
Here is an image of Adrian's VIC-1 installation. All parts are behind the driver/passenger to keep cables out of the way (just like we do for the deuce).

Images of the crankcae breather filter and how it is vented for recirculation (tube also acts as a support for the mushroom. It ends just below the mushroom).
The black hose for the air intake is not the fording kit hose, but a section of the personnel heater ducting.
I keep it...
A question came up on the ex-brake. Here are some detail images.
The exhaust brake is useful when going downhill with a heavy load. It helps slow you down (it's an engine brake) and works best when the rpm is high. The back pressure is multiplied by the rpm for the braking horsepower.

Here is a listing of the mods I have done on my deuce over the years:
Driven off the Camp Lejeune USMC base in NC back in 1995,
it started out as an M49A2C (1968) with a N/A multifuel engine.
1)Removed the 1,200 gallon tank
2)Installed a mil spec 1972 HIAB 765A K-boom crane (from a Navy...
Hi All.
I keep running into "CIE Fuel" in the TM's, does it refer to kerosene type fuels or what? It also has a mil #, MIL-F-46005. Can't find a good definition anywhere. Reading about it it seems like kerosene and JP4 may be the same thing.
Any insight here would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bjorn
I have decided that changing brake fluid would be a good thing.
Does any of you have any experience with the vacuum bleeder methode?
I have seen the hand operated vacuum bleeders on ebay and other places for about $30. Are they worth it or should I invest in one that operates on compressed air...
Worked on this monitoring device for the fuel viscosity compensator over the wekend.
It gives me a reading on a DVM which represents the position of the fuel stop at all times.
Tested it a while ago and it's working great. More later.

In the process of trying to locate an image for recovry4x4 I found the following notes and pictures form past PS magazines that may be of interest. (Didn't find the picture Kenny wanted).

Recovry, Rdixiemiller, Barefoot and ?, I'm still serious about making the trip to Florida within the next several months, especially if I can work something out with Kenny in trade for helping with the engine swap.
I need tires badly, the ones in the back of the deuce now can make the trip...
Installed this brake line pressure gauge a couple of months ago.
Pressure with air: About 1,800 psi
W/o air: about 400 psi.
Gotto find something better to do....
