What is the fording plate? Is it a data plate or the round piece that goes on the dash part that leads to the air cleaner? I may have one on my parts trucks.

Not much resistance at all. You can feel a little pressure when moved each way, but not near as much as from the one that was in that kit. If time allows, I will go by the parts store tomorrow and see if they can cross reference that number. I pulled off the old rusted out muffler and plan on...

I think we have solved the accelerator pump problem. The visit to Ace Carburetor in Tulsa was a success. Richard, who runs the business, had seen the Holley 885-FFG before and knew what to do. The accelerator pump that came in the rebuild kit was too large. He had a whole drawer full of the...

I checked out a carburetor from one of the parts trucks. Everything is the same size as what was in my other carburetor. The pieces in the new kit have smaller openings. I'll be taking the rebuilt carburetor to get looked at tomorrow and will bring the kit pieces to show the guy and ask his...

How are you applying the black paint and getting it off of the raised portions without sanding? I am getting ready to do the plates on my truck too.

That is what I was wondering. I may pull one of the carbs from a parts truck and compare.

Are all of the diameters of the openings in your original brass parts larger than the ones with the new kit? (Except for the crimped ends of the above.)

I tried sanding it down (helped a little), removing the spring, soaking in gas, soaking in PB Blaster, throwing across the garage and even cursing at it. Nothing worked. Didn't try the ice water and drying process. A nitrile seal would be great and I did think of that, but none of the local...

Is that a Canadian Military kit? Mine looked the exact same. The jet openings and fuel metering parts had smaller openings than what was originally in my carb. I just cleaned up and reused the originals. I am going to get the carburetor rebuild guy's opinion on what is best. We will solve this...

The part number to the carburetor rebuild kit I got is 00-753-9050-2910. I called a carburetor rebuild shop in Tulsa and explained my problem. The man said to bring it in and we would find the right accelerator pump or fabricate one that will work. I like how he put that, so hopefully he can...

I looked at those threads yesterday and that manual online during the rebuild of the carb. Have you considered posting a copy of the military carburetor rebuild manual in the TM section? It would be awesome if you did. My problem is definitely the accelerator pump. It is too tight and sticks...

Carburetor Rebuild My dad came over for a visit and we rebuilt the carburetor on my truck. We had a lot of success and also have a few questions. After doing some research, I chose to use Klean Strip Naked Gun Spray Gun Cleaner to soak the carburetor in. I was very pleased with the results...

DHennon..yes, it was used at a fire department in eastern Kansas up until the mid 90's after leaving the military/forestry service. The name of the department escapes me at the moment. I am the 3rd owner since that time. The first owner had it for several years, but had to sell due to an injury...

Today I got around to cleaning up my other parts truck. Here are some pics. Also found a few things to bring home. Bed before and after Engine before and after. (I really hate rats!) Look at this gem. I have never seen one before and was excited to find this early feature. Got this window...

    Question about brake cylinders.

I can't give you an answer but maybe I can help narrow down what you are trying to figure out. I just rebuilt the front axle wheel cylinders on my M135. The truck was rebuilt at the Tooele arsenal in 1959. All four wheel cylinders had a bore diameter of 1 1/2". Haven't gotten around to the back...
