Re: RE: Ralph
Yes that was the only damaged piston we found although we also also discovered that pistons connecting rod bearing cap was also loose and seemed that it was not torqued at all. The crank was slightly rough on that journal but salvageable and it seems as if the engine was not run...
I have posted this on G741 and thought, for those who missed it, I'd post here also. Thanks for looking. Carter
I am posting this for my friend Ralph. We spent the last couple of days tearing down a spare engine and today took the block to the machine shop to be cooked out and have cam...
Denman Tire Co. has military design NDTs available. I contacted them and located a supplier locally and avoided shipping cost. Check them out at the bottom of this page. Although listed as tubeless I installed tubes and flaps and put them on my M101 and have had no problems at all at highway...
I was not able to see the numbers on the plate clearly( old glasses and eyes) but once I saw them after they were posted and enlarged on the monitor I searched and was not able to find any info. Thought I was seeing the TM number wrong or it was wrong on the plate or didn't know what I was doing...
Re: RE: Re: RE: 24VDC Generator Questions
There should be a TM 9-2805-257-14, but I couldn't find it on logsa, it might be on this site.
Michael, I never thought about the LO and parts books, most likely will need at least a carb kit, just not thinking I guess. I'll need every reference...
Re: RE: Re: RE: 24VDC Generator Questions
Thanks, that's great. I am able to read the TM # but after a search was not able to find anything listed that seemed to be correct for this set and wasn't sure the numbers were the right ones using my old tired eyes so you have helped a lot. Do you...
Re: RE: 24VDC Generator Questions
Thanks Phil, I'll give it a shot, never thought of Marvel Mystery Oil, seen it added to gas but didn't think about cleaning with it. One question though, UR gas? Unleaded regular?
Re: RE: 24VDC Generator Questions
Yeah, burnishing usually does work but in this case it 's the reason I can't read the info, the plates are silk screened paint over unstamped aluminum and somebody has burnished the paint off so I'm kind of stuck. The only number I can see is the stamped...
My friend Ralph gave this set to me yesterday and I'd like to know what model it is, what TM goes with it and anything else you can tell me about it. The data plates are difficult to read and the fuel system is clogged with old crud from sitting for years with gas in the tank, pump and carb...
Thank you Brent.
While not really a restoration but more like a half a$$ rebuild, it will serve the purpose for which it was intended. As to the time that it took to do the work, I have owned it for several years and only worked on it part time and I would guess the total hours spent would be...
Re: RE: M101 Handbrake Mods.
Hey Cabell, how have you been doing? Ok I hope. Lifer stated much the same as you, that most folks who were unfamilular with the trailers would have no idea the rig had been modified with non-standard levers and cables. Looking at your trailer pic does show...
When I bought this trailer the orig. levers were removed, the box was altered and none of the orig. external brake parts remained, it had been used by municipal govt. as a trash collection trailer. I was intrested in replacing the brake stuff but was not looking to restore it, just to make it...
This was the heaviest load I have ever hauled, the only other loads hauled in the 880 have been 2 cu. yds. of garden mulch, about a ton and a quarter. I did haul a heavier load in an M37, 3.9 tons of crushed stone and what a mistake that was. The loader operator dumped a full bucket load of the...
I am rebuilding my fireplace chimney and needed to pickup brick and mortar at a Baltimore brickyard. Loaded a ton and a quarter of brick + 7 bags of mortar= 490 lbs. and 4 bags of non-shrink grout = 200 lbs. Total load weight 3190 lbs. The springs still had some arch although not much but the...
Re: RE: Re: RE: Replaced the 882
The tank is plastic like the others and no I usually have no contamination problems but a local gas and go did and I got a large charge of rusty water and had to remove, drain and clean the tank and figured at that time I'd install this so if it it ever should...
Re: RE: Replaced the 882
Yeah, so would I if I was going to buy a complete filter set-up, spin-on is the way to go, but I had all this crap on hand and had the idea that it might function as a practical free replacement, which it now does. I also have this same kind of filter in my PE 95 K...
Re: RE: Replaced the 882
Yes ,you are correct, removing and changing this would be a pain if removal was necessary, however this filter doesn't need to be changed. The filter bowl does not have to be removed, unbolted or wrenched on, this filter has a bottom drain valve like a radiators...
