Adrian, hope to see you at the 2010 show. If memory serves, you had the halftrack and artillery at the 2008 show, right? I spoke a while with Lee, and he mentioned you were returning soon. Welcome back.
The weather forecast may have kept some people away from this year's show, but there were...
Glad to meet you ODI. Be sure to post pics of your M35 when the EUC clears and you're allowed to see it again (strange GL rules). Also, please post pics of the suspension repair. Maybe even do a short write up of how to do the repair?
Oh yeah, hopefully in another month the front winch will be installed. Also, for the museum show, the green and brown CARC paint was repainted. Haven't gotten the black/charcoal CARC paint yet. The old CARC paint was still in good condition, but now it's new. Time to paint over the "CARC 93"...
Howdy all. A local museum had a militaria show over the weekend. Drove my new 814 there. There's normally a good range of vehicles on display. From all types of jeeps, to halftracks. And of course, the show being at a war museum means there's plenty of static displays to dream about...
After taking some measurements, the outside dual tires will stick out of the fender wells by about 3 inches. I suppose fender extensions could be installed, and the inside duals could be removed, which would solve the fender well issue.
At least there are options.
I'm also wondering about the tires. I have an M200 chassis and a M105 bed to put on it. The inside tires are too narrow to fit in the bed fender wells, and the outside tires are wider than the bed. I'd like to either flip the hubs if it can be done on an M200, or put none-dual tires on the...
Yeah, the tires are great. Funny story about going to the DMV to register the 814. Handed over all the paperwork to the DMV clerk. Past experience with registering MVs has shown that it's a crap shoot at the DMV as to whether they'll make problems. Bruce supplied everything the Va DMV needed...
A fellow in the local MVPA club said "start small".
Great advice. So I started my MV collection with a deuce. Maybe not what he meant... That deuce is a great truck, but after a while it got small. How to solve this problem? Buy another deuce of course! Problem solved, for a while at...
Like Bulldog said, BKubu has one for sale. He had 2 for sale, but as of one week ago today, I bought one of 'em from him. Besides the expected surface rust here and there, it's a beauty.
Send Bruce Kubu a PM about his other 814 thats for sale.
Spent some time over the past two weekends installing some step platforms on the front bumper, and installed the tow bar on the bumper too. As heavy as the tow bar is, I can't imagine tryign to move a heavy tow bar.
Welcome aboard ODI. I'm right down the road from you in Pokosun. There are a number of MV people in the area, and all different types of MVs too. There are a couple deuces coming up for sale around here too.
Sorry JW. With the second fuel tank taking the place of the regular passenger side tool box, storage room is limited. The plan is to mount the old tool bos somewhere.
Well, the bed is on the truck now. As for bolting it down, the 818s have an angle bracket that runs about 6 feet on the outside of the frame rails, and is centered on the frame. The 5th wheel bolts to these angle brackets. You can see the angle brackets in the welding pictures above, where stuff...
And the project as of today. Things left to do:
1. Clean and paint the bed to match.
2. Scrape the bed pins so the side drop easier.
3. Modify some of the lights.
4. Some newer tires
So far this project hasn't been too bad. Just takes some time and patience. I've already spent more on...
