Welcome aboard from the South East part of the state. There is at least one other member from Chillicothe that I am aware of. Good luck on your future purchase
MWMULES,
Do you have any extra fly's for the tempers??? If so, what might one or two set me back?
I almost forgot that I can bring along some of the oil filter adapter kits for the MEP-002a and MEP-003a generators. Pre-order them so I have time to get them together.
Since this is the buy/sell trade thread, I've decided to sell the lube tank from my lubrication trailer I won a while back. It is the 3 segment tank with each segment holding 27 gallons. each section has it's own air operated pump and they all cycle (I never tested to see if they actually...
I have a book at home that tells how to properly do it...I'm at work right now. I'll try to get that information sometime down the road.
As far as just using the location where they come out from the grommet in the head to ID them. I would avoid that like the plague, or you might just find...
Welcome aboard
First off, I am sorry to hear about your charging issue, but jbk just answered it pretty simple.
Secondly, I thank you for searching and adding to old threads rather than clog the system up with a bunch of new ones that have been covered many times before...The charging one...
Why? Unless you are having an inspection done, or you have some really screwy local codes, you can do pretty much what ever you want to with your property once the inspections are done. Electrical code inspections are usually only needed for work being done such as a service change/upgrade or...
I've already done the spin-on filter for the oil...WONDERFUL mod by the way.
I'm gonna do the auto start auto switch-over sometime down the road, as soon as the other projects start getting done.
There are too many used IP's floating around that you could buy and rebuild. Even if you had to buy 3 used ones to make one good one, you'll still be cheaper than $850 for a new head from AMBAC
Jerry,
You may be correct, but the way it was written and the way I read it doesn't lean that way. He wrote "replacing the pump", not rebuilding the pump, or disassebling and cleaning the pump.
You are correct though, if you are just re-installing your old pump everything is fine. You can...
I hate to start an arguement, but the button and is matched to the hydraulic head. The shims set the gear lash for the drive, but if you change the pump, or even just the head you MUST flow time the pump to determine the button thickness for your fuel delivery rate. This is not just my...
Are you asking about the possibility of replacing the entire head if it came to that? If so, yes it could be done...cheaply???? I don't know the answer to that question. I had a spare and I traded it for some cool stuff, but I can tell you this much, if I still had it to sell, it would not go...
Tell the guy it's worthless because it's not working, and it could possibly be economically non-repairable. That's not a lie because if it needs a gen head rewind, that's going to be expensive.
Now comes the other part of the story. IF you are mechanically inclined, we can help you...
One of my 003a's came with 1600 +/- on the meter and one of them had 3600 +/- on the meter. Both ran and run perfectly.
As far as the 10,000 hours you stated earlier, I believe that is where the military "resets" the units. Maybe sooner. But, if it's taken care of and has regular oil...
If you buy one that has a dead IP, it's not that big of a deal to get it running again by yourself. The TM's do a WONDERFUL job of explaining EVERYTHING you need to know about rebuilding the IP. It's an easy job if you have any mechanical aptitude at all. As for the prices, like mentioned...
More engine mass would allow it to continue to rotate faster during the momentary drag put on it when the large surge hits the generator. But you are correct, the engine would be working harder all the time with something like that done.
The surge capacity of the generator doesn't seem to be limited by engine HP, but rather by the main breaker of the generator itself. Read this thread to see what I'm talking about...MEP-002A and -003A main breaker
