What happens if fuel density compensator stop pate is removed?

OK, I'm back down at Papabear's shop to resume recovery of my 109 van. History: I picked the truck up at Warner Robbins and it was a pig. It labored to run about half speed. Changed filters and assured fuel was flowing fine. Fine help from SS guys lead me to adjusting the Fuel Density...

Haven't been able to find it with search. And if not NAPA, any other source would be fine. Any idea of cost? Thanks much

    RE-using motor oil

I've got a centrifuge coming and will be running WMO eventually. Also will 'fuge and blend in old tacky diesel fuel when I clean tanks. Figure on treating the salvaged fuel with preservative and fuel additives just for the principle of it. But at the same time, the centrifuge is great...

Oops... guess I bought a deuce by accident

Yep, didn't mean to, but got it. Last week's aution 4737, '87 AF 35A2C, item 6008 at Warner Robbins. I actually meant to just get the thing listed at the top of my bid page so I could keep an eye on it as I got more serious about a shop equipment set... Decided to let both go. But drat... I...

    Low Oil Pressure M35A3

Pressure runs about 10-15 lb at idle, and 30 lb full speed. Should read 35-70lb. Doesn't seem to have caused a problem to date but it's just been identified. Has anybody seen this problem previously with the A3? Are the A3 oil gauge and sending unit the same as the standard M35 deuce...

Another one: WTB NOS Dashboard Cover

Have checked the LMC catalog and find that they don't have a grey dashboard pad for the '85 M1028... just black. Anybody got one for sale? I'll check my local GM dealership today as well. Those pads were a stunningly defective design.

    M1031 driveshaft length?

Well, somebody forlifted the contact truck I picked up and the driveshaft is bent. A fellow MVPA member in town had the same problem and had his driveshaft repaired with a new tube. My question is: how long is the driveshaft? I'd like to have the repair made, but verify the length is...

Plan D: Lowboy from Ft. Benning to Rock Island IL area?

    Should I tow M109 with M35A3?

In commemoration of my failed effort to drive my 109A3 from Warner Robbins to Illinois, I am considering options for hauling it. I have several. First, finding somebody with a lowboy to haul it from Columbus GA up to the Rock Island IL area. Anybody know a reliable hauler? Second...

How to seal a leaky M109 Van

As is so common, my 109 shows signs of water intrusion into the van box and damage to the floor. The manuals don't address repairs to fix these problems and search doesn't find the topic, so here goes. 1. What are the common points of water entry, and how do you solve them? 2. How do you...

    Towing deuce backwards?

OK, got a new M816 5T tow truck and an interesting challenge. Need to tow a deuce that's had the rear axles pulled off to put on monstor trucks. Two issues: how to best hook up the deuce to the tow truck, and whether the front tires will support the weight of the deuce. I figure if I...

Most of my lights are out. Duh?

Here's an odd one. Of course it began last night as I was due to head out for supper. Headlights, turn signals, dash lights, rear lights... all were out. Gen lights, 4wd lights, wait, etc lights all worked. Haven't found a fuze bad and the troubleshooting guide in the -20 manual doesn't...

Source for magnetic-base lights for MilVeh?

I'm hoping to pick up a nice deuce in GA, and it looks like I'll drive a 1009 down to pick it up (full of tools and parts etc.) then tow it back with a GI towbar hauled with the 1009. I'll tow back at 50-55 with the deuce. Would like to splice into the wiring to have turn signals but doubt...

    M817 Recovery from Camp Dodge

Quite an education. Haven't been to Camp Dodge in decades but found the folks there great to deal with. '71 M817 looked great... nice paint, solid body, one full tank of diesel, most tires OK, but it needed a pull start. Got that done and headed out for Illinois. Had a 200 mile drive ahead...
