Picked up a deuce at Ft. Sheridan and got it exactly out of the motor pool before it ran out of fuel. Jump at the batteries didn't work so I plugged a couple screwdrivers into the slave cable recepticle to jump it. Fuel leaks, rain, no driver's window latch, onset of dark, Chicago area traffic...
I picked up a beautiful M1009 yesterday...
Won't start, but I had an adventure trying.
The batteries were not securely held or connected and a battery cable dropped to the frame... and a short apparently started a small fire on the firewall.
It appears that the capacitor assembly (fig 36...
I've got a deuce engine that knocks, and another that has a thrown rod. I suspect that between the two I've got the makings for a good engine, even if I need to throw in some new bearings.
I need a sturdy engine stand that will support the engine, and especially in various positions. Maybe a...
Yep. Burned up some neat deuce stuff and I need a bit of help to get a claim in fast. Got most prices but have a couple harder to get sources and prices for:
Shatter-resistant front windshield glass panels (just the glass piece)
Brand new air ride driver seat... in box (drat)
Used 2 pin...
Need the cab cover and seat covers. Anybody had success with a supplier?

In the meantime I'm working with GL customer service to get a name or other contact...
Got a wonderful M35A3 with under 4kmi on it. Gotta fix front end shimmy but that shouldn't be a big problem (unless you all know something I don't, which is almost comically likely).
But the thing doesn't want to go over 50mph at 2700 rpm. I think top is 2750. Have checked speed with a GPS...
Damn, this is just what I wanted considering the buys I'm planning in the next week...
Had a nice guy living near my row of M35s who said "I have an old deuce."
Well, 1/4 mile later I was looking at a surprise... not a Reo, but an M211 with winch. Visually,, it's in great shape. No rust...
Has anybody ever sequenced the rust pattern on a CUCV as an indicator of age/maintenance. By that I mean a list of where rust breaks our first, then next, and so on. Where are the first places to inspect for rust?
Thanks for any info.
