i would say no if it didnt pop out you need to check the kicker arm in the starter
it is on a corkscrew style shaft and when the starter spins it kicks the gear out o wait a sec is the starter a gear reduction or a direct drive
same engine and the gear reduction is a whole lot better but if you get it you will need to get the rear bracker for it there is a part number for it somewhere on here

does it do it while you are sitting still if so check your radiator fan the clutch might be locked up or it might be loose belts or low power steering fluid
pull the tranny dip stick and check to see if the fluid on the stick has air bubbles in it. If it does that is a sign that the tranny filter fell out of its hole. also check all of the vacume lines they could be dry rotted and the one line that is always missed is about an inch long on the...
also check the starter relay under the dash to make sure it didnt fry sometimes they fry shut keeprong the starter engaged and sometimes the fry open not letting the starter get power
check the output side of the solenoid to see if you get power coming out. When my solenoid went out it would still click but no power on the output. but it could also be bad plugs
if you have 24v at the lights what else on the truck that is supposed to be 12v has 24v. my guesss is everything else . i woild check to see if the 12v power block on the firewall isnt hooked up to 24v. I put a picture of the 12v power block on here so you can see what i am talking about the...
