    How well build are these CUCV's.

    As has been said it's a 25-year old vehicle that has probably not seen the best of care & will require constant attention. Plan to invest both time & $'s to keep it somewhat reliable.

    Arctic Fuel Burning Heater Running on WMO?

    Stick with diesel fuel. I have 2 trucks with these heaters & they indeed will warm up the cab on 'low' in short order.

    In summation, utililizing the deuce for commercial freight operations is not a good idea for a multitude of reasons.

    I have gotten good service out of Opitimas- about $129 at Costco.

    What did you do to your deuce this week?

    Replaced the fuel level sending unit & added a folding step to the front bumper- so now it won't be such an arduous task to check fluid levels.

    Using ether to start is not good. Suggestion- search the forum for 'won't start' threads & proceed methodically.

    M101A2 recovery from Anchorage, AK

    The stretch of highway from the Alaska border to Haines Junction has always been in poor condition. I almost get the feeling that the Canadians view that stretch of highway as not real important to smooth out as the bulk of the traffic is people passing through to Alaska & not local folks.

    I wholeheartly agree with Warthog- big dollars can be required to remove 'improvements & upgrades' when attempting to return a vehicle to stock configuration. Been there & done that.
