was looking at my new conquest and it seems to me that adding power steering to a 135 would be a relatively easy thing to do with the steering box location being outside/on top of the frame. Anyone thought about this? Done it? I am assuming that it would be relatively easy to fab. a power...
Jeott I am officially nominating you for the Iron Ass award if you drove that beast 13 hours home. You are now my new hero. The camo job that everyone has mixed opinions of is courtesy of my wife. I tiger striped it black and she said it wasn't enough "color", so there you go. she took the...
well I solidified the deal today for the Jimmy. It's actually a 135 that someone has added dual rear tires. Seems to be in " savable shape" with the bed being a total loss and the rest in fair shape. Engine runs well, but no brakes, owner suspects a wheel cylinder is to blame. Used to be an...
I am in deep lust for sure. When the trend is to cut down to a bobber you make a land yacht. I love it. Definately a two parking spac-er! Where do the quad fifties mount? Oh wait that's my fantasy.......... I need some alone time now------snakeater
and just so everyone knows the truck runs like a sewing machine..........a sewing machine that has no brakes and backfires like a banshee around 40mph, but a sewing machine none the less. That raptor does look good in there although I think I would have had them tint it OD before applying it...
I am also about to start on a 53 m-211 and I will most likely bob it as well. However 52's are not on the agenda. 48's are going to be the tire of choice, as well as upgrading the old 302 gasser to a 12 valve cummins. Get some pics of the truck on here in a few days for your viewing pleasure.
gentlemen.......for reference that is the duece that I ( with the help of friends) bobbed. The chopped exhaust was a quick fix to a problem and never meant to stay that way. Regarding the tires hitting the fenders that is hog wash. I personally had it in and out of several creekbeds and bad...
there is a product on the market called Raptor. It is available from any automotive paint supplier. One "kit" is around 125.00 and is enough to do a standard size pickup bed twice. It can also be tinted any color that you wish. We have used it at the body shop with great results very similar...
I also have found a ultra cheap 211 that will make it's way to my home in the next week or so. I will be bobbing this one for sure. Inform me on the winches on these trucks. Hydraulic or pto? This truck I am looking at has a pto for sure, but no winch. Snakeater
what would be the problem of using the 4bt or 6bt cummins with a 400 or overdrive trans. Super dependable engines, decent fuel mileage? Any takers? How about converting the origional engine to run on propane instead of gas. definately cheaper although it would be a little harder to fuel up...
what size are the fittings to plumb in my (engine coolant) cab heater to the engine? Are they available locally? please gimme the size and thread count please unless it is standard NPT. i want to go get some of these before I take the plugs out to plumb in my heater. thanks Snakeater
does the pto in a 5 ton dump face forward or backwards or is it a double flanged pto? Looking at a 5 ton dump that has had the bed removed as a bobber project and was wondering if the pto that is in it would be applicable for using a winch on the front. thanks Snakeater
stretch......what would be gained by converting from pto to hydraulic? Both will not work without the engine running, with the pto you get 5 forward speeds and reverse. Hydraulic has only one speed---slow. It would be very easy to convert your winch to hydraulic as long as you have a pump to...
I was hoping there was an interchange that someone knew of that would work to provide lift and flexibility. Trying not to have to get engineers involved if at all possible.(LOL) The f-350 spring idea is valid, but i don't think it will be applicable to the front of the truck. Too much weight...
well the front springs on my deuce are the same as the rears, so i wonder how much weight they will support. The f-350 idea may be quite valid if it will support the weight of the engine and winch in the front without sagging badly. Surely I am not the first person to want a more flexible...
I am not looking to lift it much, maybe a couple inches. What I really want is more flexibility in the springs. If I could get a more flexible spring pack with no lift i would be happier than lifted springs that are as hard as the stock springs.
I have heard it mentioned here, but couldn't find any info. who does spring re arching for the deuce springs? Does anyone know if they can arch them so as to lift it, or make a new set of springs that add a little lift? thought about playing with the spring rates and making the bobbed deuce a...
Search function is your friend. This has been covered many times here. Just put "bobbed deuce" into search and you will have more than you care to read. Snakeater
what tire pressure are you running? I noticed a big difference in mine in just changing the pressure. I am running 16r20's with 50 psi. Origionally had it running with 30 and it wandered and fought all the way. 50 psi feels better and steers easier. i have manual only steering. I would...
