Just put my tranny back in this week. No seal between the bell housing and tranny. We did use some permatex between the bell housing and the flange only because my friend (master diesel mechanic) suggested it, but I understand that it isn't necessary. Just bolt it on there. We also did not use...

here is the link to my rear main repair. You probably read it already if you did a search. Might be helpful as there are a few links in it others had posted. I had a little trouble adjusting the clutch at first.
Working at getting some seat cushions made up. Found some high density foam at a car show flea market. Went back to buy some and the guy was sold out. Have to find something else. Looking at duck canvas or marine vinyl in black. Not sure yet.
Its getting there... A few more things to paint. Had to pull the radiator out today to get it fixed. My window glass is done so I need to go pick it up and install it. Bed needs done yet along with the rest of the wheels. But, it moves under it's own power. :-D
What do you all think so far???
I was just at harbor freight today. If you have one in your area, you can pick up an engine hoist for under a hundred bucks using a 20% off coupon which are always available.
I replaced most of the bolts. A few I cleaned up and reused if they were in good shape. The herculiner was rolled on. I'm planning to spray it when I do the bed.
When I bought my deuce it didn't leak at all during the test drive. Got it on the road and dumped oil all over the highway. I replaced the rear main myself but wish I would have done the clutch and pressure plate at the same time. The pads were soaked with oil and the clutch slipped like mad...
Got a lot of stuff done today. Cleaned the radiator but ended up with a leak. Going to have to pull it back out and take a closer look.
Got it running Saturday, so fixed some more quick wiring issues and left it run today so we could check for leaks at the rear main. All looked good after...
Thank you to everyone who helped me out with this. In between having to take care of two deaths at work last night I was reading over the last couple posts. I had to take a look at things as soon as I got home this morning. Looks like now the problem is solved. Everything is hooked up and...

Okay, I'm gonna find a 24 volt test light and hook it up in place of the meter I was using (between pos cable and pos terminal). The meter definitely shows a draw when the alt is hooked up. I'll post what the test light shows. Thanks for the advice.
Okay, got my main switch wiring figured out. Had it wired wrong. I'm thinking I must have had power going to the field wire, exciting the alternator, causing the original arcing problem. So, now that the switch is sorted out, I hooked my voltimeter up to the positive cable (disconnected from...
Anyone have a picture of the main switch wiring. Searched and can't find one.
There are two ribbed connectors (#11) and two smooth (1 and 27). Which connections do each go to?
Duh, back of switch is marked a,b,c,d. I missed them because there so **** small.
Still stuck. Hooked the batts up with the alt #2 wire disconnected and figured out I have no power at the dash. Taillights work though. My bro in-law is a whiz with wiring (mopars and old vws) and said he could take a look at it for me. Showed him the diagrams and he mentioned how simple the...
The main switch is definitely off. Also, I replaced the harness with a new one that has 74a and 74b for the fuel pressure sensor that I don't have. Need to splice them yet.
I'll have to check the alternator connections better. Is it okay to remove the black silicone crap that covers the smaller...
