FMJ and I used a wooden dowel with tightly wrapped electrical tape get the clutch centered. Put the trans in gear and turn the output shaft to get the splines to line up. It was the easiest trans to put in of all ones I have done.
The brakes were adjusted to spec and the bearings were changed. It was still the same. It isn't too bad. When it got hot it was a too tight bearing. I re-adjusted it and did nothing to the brakes. I was going to swap the whole hub to the other side, but after a 650 mile day, it was still...
When I moved form El Paso to Ohio I got 6.0 MPG in the hills of New Mexico. I averaged 8.87 for the whole trip. The speedo broke along the way, so I used GPS miles to gallons for the overall. The truck was very heavy, covers, and a 105. I was running 1200 in the mountains, so I was easy on...
The EGTs are the same before and after. I used the larger napa muffler. If you don't isulate the cab, you need hearing protection at 40+. The trans starts making a lot of gear noise. If you cut the exhaust straight and put on a clapper, it will take the drone out of the exhaust note as...
My hubs would get hot quick. If I drove 10 miles or 50 miles they were all about the same except for one. The left, front, rear ran 113 to 118 and the others were 98 to 105. I played with bearings, seals, and grease, but one always ran hotter than the others. Someone before mentioned a...
I don't want to have to post my air seat, carpeted deuce again. I drove 1800 miles with my wife and a cat when we moved. I am still married, and the cat didn't run away. It's your truck do as you want. I made mine so that the whole family can enjoy it. I miss the exhaust note, but I don't...
I can make a spot for you but I am about 3.5 hours or so by deuce to your northeast. I don't know if I should offer you a spot b/c I will be bidding on the same trucks as you, but you have one if needed.
I could not find one before I moved from the southwest to the north, so I made one up on short notice. I am going to make a bracket and put on black hose when time allows. I can't park it at my appartment, so I don't usually drive or work on it.
I used some fittings from an old leaky air...
Then you will be good to go. Put a pyro on, turn up the fuel, and watch the guage on the hills. I was running 1100 to 1200 at 4,000 feet unloaded. At less than 1,000 feet I couldn't get over 900 loaded. I turned up the fuel three or four flats, and I am running 1,000 to 1,100. I have a D...
Jesus, I used a taller seat for my wife. The one for my side was a Pete shorter seat. I was too close to the wheel. If I cut material from the back of the cab or the seat it would fit better. I didn't have time to do that before I left. I drove 1800 miles in three days. I put a cushon on...
I have connections on base. If I cant get it moved off base for you I may be able to get it moved on base untill pickup. PM me if you need it moved. Does it have a radiator? I can't remember if it was that truck or a previous one that had no rad.
I called and left a message. I will be in the area until tomorrow (monday) night. Let me know early if you need help bc my deuce is not currently 6x6 and I will need to change tires before I head out. Good luck.
Thanks for the help and new ideas. I will hit the underside of the Bronco with the por15 and then spray it and the Liberty before winter with a rust proofer. I will spray the deuce too, but it won't be seeing any salt until I can sell my old house and get a new one. The appartment where I am...
I will get a timeslip with the deuce, if they will let me, the next time I am at the track. I think the 1st to 2nd shift will lose a lot of time, but not much MPH. I may try to start in 2nd. I guess I can lose some clutch life for the best recorded ET in a deuce. Only time will tell. I do...
When you rebuilt the carb did you check the float level? Did you dip it? My next guess would be to check the fuel pressure or make sure the needle and seat is good and working properly. What did the plugs look like? Does it look like it is getting too much or not enough fuel? Make sure the...
