Its just a clothes closet:sad:. I was hoping for a forgotten stash of M16s, maps of Saddam's hidden gold stash, or even a toilet - (Note the pick from the GL lot has a roll ot toilet paper in it - Where there's smoke, there could be fire ;-)
I opened it up and there were 5 old style wire coat...
Actually it seems to be holding well. I've got 2 years on my repainted M35A2 soft top and I used Marine green and Krylon camo on the vargo cover. They look like canvas.
Take a look at this pic,
It had camo soft top and cargo cover now painted, still looks great.
I have trie some fancy...
Yes, I have done this twice now and it holds up fine for me. Gillespie or Krylon camo both seem to work good. Clean it up with detergent and shoot light coats.
Dang I forgot to add the pic of the refinished interior - Here she is:
It looks a little different.
I forgot to mention all missing parts (front hubs, bolts, etc) were in the toolbox or under the seat, was less to buy than I thought, but more other little things. Still a great project:beer:
The $820 M109A3 Resurrection Update - Transfer Case Issue
This is a story of a $820 GL Deuce I won on auction last November (2010).
Doghead was kind enought to do a retrieve & store for me until the snow went away this spring. Doghead brought it down to my place in April and I thought it was...
In my opinion It isn't really that bad without the special wrench - I used a large monkey wrench and it worked fine. I think you could also use a pipe wrench
I snag 55 gal drums of waste X-ray generator oil (all hi temp, nearly new, very clean mineral oil) about 1 drum/month originating from my employer. It would otherwise be taken away at an expense, even though its non hazardous. So it saves employer some and me some. I dilute it with diesel...
Wow! That truck was a bargain! The winch parts alone are worth more than you paid.
Thee are some good deals to be had on occasion on GL, I won a M109A3 at Ft Drum, NY for $820. THought I was getting it for parts, turns out, it runs! SO I had to get it road worthy. Afew hundred in parts...
I asked my friend who has been on 3 tours in Afghanistan - He has not seen one deuce there But wishes he had. Funny he said they go through a lot of John Deere Gators on Kandahar airbase. Its almost like the military could use a jeep sized general purpose vehicle instead of a gator - Hmmm...
I've used suitable patch material and Gorilla Glue (similar method as others here have said), have a cargo cover on a M35A2 and repaired tie down loops and holes, works great, clamp it down for best results. You can paint patch area with Krylon camo with fusion, works well to blend
Just my 2 cents + experience, I bought a W/W truck from Indiantown Gap last year, ran great and good power, but consistant white smoke at start and at idle. Truck had low miles and signs of good recent (a few years) maint and rebuiling. A buddy of mine thought it was low compression and worn a...
I thougt I would pass on
doing some / browsing shopping and noticed "free shipping" for all UPS ground orders this weekend, so I stocked up on Aervoe OD semi gloss - checked out and yep free shipping. (no hazmat fee for more than 12 cans either :-D) thought I should pass on.
Spray Paint
Yes- Exactly - its very clean oil - comes from X-ray high voltage generator transformers - all newer equipment (no PCBs) and its free (just pick it up) from my source. Most of it is clear - If it has been in an older unit (5 year or longer time) and heated alot, it may be slightly honey brown...
Just curious - I've been running waste (very clean) modern transformer oil with success in my M35a2 Multi at a mix of about 50% with commercial diesel - The oil is very clean, sometimes just clear, colorless and filtered but is a little thicker than diesel - it seems to run great though.
Do...
This is what I put in it and where I got it from - FOLIAGE GREEN 1000D OUTDOOR FABRIC 60" CORDURA NYLON | eBay
Your right, the nylon stuff is actually very smooth feeling - (almost sensual ;))
When I get out of work tonight - I'll try to head to the cabin & take some pics.
added dense...
That is exactly what I did and it came out great.
I would offer that I added "firm" foam to the back and bottom - really makes for a much more comfortable ride. I got 2" furniture foam from ebay, and also got some mil grade cordura nylon fabric in forest green on ebay too - but it also comes...
I stopped at Kublo's on the way back from recovering my second deuce from Ft Indiantown Gap PA.
We picked up tires for incredibly cheap and filled the back of the truck up.
Ken was great - he checked out my truck completely over and gave me some unbeatable prices.
It was "fun" driving...
After you are sure you have drained the tanks well, checked for leaks, etc. I would also check/adjust or replace the air pressure regulator - They are only like $15 or so new and easy to install (simple plumbing skills with a wrench). Its under the hood and against the firewall and looks like...
