quick update, talked to the owner, its 7.4 454 Vrotec, 4l80e transmission, np208- engine and trans installed new in 2000, they kept the transfer box.....and to my surprise the guy works for Chevrolet dealership and knows the car history, said the embassy had no problems with the car and they...
All trucks I could see in Bosnia were in great shape, here's mine 1009, I resprayed in a more civilian color (wife's choice), and put the emblems on fenders to conceal holes and assist authorities in designating the type of vehicle.... but it will have to go if I buy this one.....
Well, different rules apply here, what in your opinion is a reasonable price for this truck? I agree it's thirsty, I expect around 10mpg, I can get it coverted to dual system gas/cng for around 500$......
Thanks for your replies! I also noticed the AC but was too excited to ask if it was working. Hopefully, I'll talk to the guy tomorrow and see if I can get the truck before I need to go back to Iraq. Anything else I should pay attention to?
At the least, I'll go and give it a spin and see how it...
Well guys, I need your assistance and guidance….. I found this 1008 purely by accident:grin:, the owner bought it from US embassy here in Bosnia few years ago, but did not drive it much due to it being a gasser (imagine the gas price here: 6.30$/gal).
Apparently, the embassy hired local...
My truck has only 42K, but don't forget it's 27 years old and pump internal rubbery parts tend to harden and crack with age, and may collapse, which will eventually ruin the pump, even on low mileage trucks...yes, i know, not comforting words...
No, Ac60g is far more superior, especially if you have a manual push button ignition set up. I put in the set of 60gs two years ago, in winter wife holds the button on for 30+ seconds, etc…. checked them few days ago, all as good as new…… but I do not know if they are a right choice in...
Well, my pump had already been on it’s way out (debris and muck in the return valve). I didn’t want to advance it any further, instead I decided to turn it up, as discussed before on this forum(allegedly that way you compensate for the age of the pump). If the pump is in good condition, I...
Had the similar situation, wife run the truck on poorly filtered WMO while I was on deployment, when I returned home the truck could hardly move . Turned the pump 1/6 and added a quart of old atf to a couple of gallons of diesel to clean the injectors… the improvement is amazing, pulls like a...
i gave up trying to repair the shift indicator, as doghead stated, it would work for a few days and go...i got used to counting the gears while shifting so i don't even think of it now, however the wife is the one who often hits the garage doors. ;-)
what does your np208 sound like in low range? mine has distinctive hypoid gear whine/noise under acceleation, but only in low range, 4H and 2H are ok. drove it a while in 4 low today and was quite surprised how the trans sounded.
My 1009 has 46k miles, I changed the transmission oil with Valvoline dextron III, replaced the filter at the same time. Drained oil was clean and no metal particles in the pan. Now, I might imagining it, but it’s developed a slight whine, especially under light throttle. the whine gets quieter...
Thanks, that helped a lot, that is what i wanted to know, i just need a cover to protect TC and flexlate from water, dirt and mud splashes i'm not going to drag it through the mud or bump it up against rocks, so the stamped steel should work fine. Thanks
my m1009 does not have flexplate cover, i found this GM Turbo 350 400 Chrome Dust Shield TH350 TH400: eBay Motors (item 330467729932 end time Sep-06-10 17:39:31 PDT) and wonder if it would fit. anyone has a picture of the cover?
in short, it's gear oil MIL-L-2105 or GL-5, but read the TMs all you need to know is on the page 2 of the-12 manual. also if you'e in doubth if you should uuse GM LS additive read this ( i found it on some forum and it cleared things up for me):
