What are the differences between the 8, 12 & 24 bolt wheels?
I keep hearing people say the 8 bolt are bad & get rid of them, but no reasons why.
Are the lug nut patterns the same on all of them?
Are they the same or different widths?
Can the center bead lock/ run flat inserts from 1 type be...
Well the guy I bought the Humvee from had a tire shop put on new 37x12.5 Goodyear military tires but there are no bead locks in them now, so when I aired down to off road it poped off the bead in no time & with not having a spare yet I was screwed.
& just as a second confirmation, the hmmwv coming off govplanet should still have that in the 8 bolt wheels that are on the truck?
Its not that the military would have quit using the incert, right?
I'm trying to confirm that there should be a bead lock &/ runflat actually in the middle of the tire & if so is it 1 or 2 pieces.
The info I have found sounds like it should be 2 pieces (but on some wheels it was just 1 piece) & right now there appears to be nothing in the middle of the tire.
I have a 1986 Humvee with the 8 bolt 2 piece rims, as far as I under stand there should be a piece in the middle of the tire beads to sandwich them to the outer rim. My problem is I went off roading & aired down & poped a bead & I determined that there is no insert in the middle of my tires...
Since I'm not that familiar with the truck or which plate goes were could you please show me which plate to look at. And what does it take to modify the newer plate to fit the older truck if I do get the wrong kit.
I have a 1986 m998 hmmwv & I found an underbody skid plate kit that the seller says the paperwork specifies m998 a2 non winch truck. Will this kit fit my Humvee?
The options I can think of is if it is currently registered in the sellers name , ask if he would let you drive it home on his registration (& maybe insurance), but I would setup my own insurance ahead & then just call & confirm adding the vehicle. You could always mail back his plates or email...
