A friend of mine just undone the suspension on his five-ton, had me lift the rear w/ a wrecker, and rolled them out! Easiest and safest way to go..... a heavy pumpkin coming off some home-rigged lift under the truck would be BAD!!
RE: Typing at the same time.
Once you do pull the "head or "heads", however you decide, use a straightedge, a true straightedge, and it will tell you if the surface is not flat and true. If in the slightest doubt, and if money allows-due to the expense and time involved in pulling heads, I...
RE: Re: RE: stuck
That is a deep one..... I do lot's of mud riding, and i've learned that if I start to spin and stick, I can usually grab third in low range and "Spin em" and that will help "Clean" the tires of the already caked mud, and it helps 90% of the time to go own through, as long as...
Kinda of a silly question, i'm sure the answer is simple. How do I post a pic once i'm answering a topic in the forums, to better show a point, etc?? Thanks, Steve
RE: Re: RE: Check valve for oil filters?
The idea of using the "Oil pre-olier" is a great one. The "Oil accumulator" is normally used for drag racing in the event oil pressure drops due to surge of oil from pan at high rpms....and the accumulator sends a surge of oil to "Help" with the...
RE: Opinions on value of this bobbed duece
In my Opinion, it is worth $8500.00 as it sits, and especially since it comes with an airshift transfer case. But, as eberyone has said, is it worth it to you?? Would you have the funds to first buy a duece, strip it down, chop off the rear section...
A friend of mine has a set (super-singled) on his bridge truck, they work great, and thats the route i'm taking!! He says their awesome off-road and cleans the mud out well. ....hope that helped!!
M1075, what would you run on the "bridge trucks"??
Also, with the bigger 16-20's you come into problems with the tires coming into contact on most trucks with the bed and front fenders.....look at those Oshkosh photos again, there is hardly ANY room to flex up the suspension, and the...
RE: Re: RE: Which is better?
I play alot in the mud with half-ton chevy frames with 60's up front and 14's in the rear, and they hold up to 44" TSL swampers and 4.88 gears, and redline AT 7000 RPM. The only thing we worry about when building these trucks with this setup is getting the correct...
In the state that truck is in, I would not want to take a chance and bid on it!! It's past being saved. Can you imagine the impact to do that much damage to the front???? It may have a few usable parts, but its rough......
Thanks alot DDoyle amd everyone, whats great about this site, is everyone helping everyone accomplish their personal goals towards their own "Steel Soldiers", Thanks.
If I could purchase a bridge truck around this area (Alabama) in decent, driveable shape w/ the diesel for around $1600.00, I would go that route. The truck that I would pull the Cummins 250 from and transplant into mine, is hit hard in the rear, runs excellent, and I can get it for $1000.00...
Hey, Thanks alot guys. I really appreciate your help with helping me figure this out! This winter I plan on pulling the 602 gasser and installing a cummins 250 with alot of power upgrades. That will be my next line of questions!! :driver:
Hey all!! As some may know, my "Steel Soldier" is a M-139 Bridge Truck, rated at 5-tons, built by IHC. My question is the rating of 5-tons, is that accurate, or maybe under-rated?? I have seen several 5-tons, and my suspension is much more than the ones I have came close to. I hauled a...
