Well it fired right up...no oil pressure. Nothing. I put a mech gauge on it. Nothing. I reprimed it 2 more 2x. Pumped almost 2 gals of oil through it. Nothing. Pulled the oil filter off and cranked it over. Nothing. Re checked the pics I posted in this thread, the tubes are installed correctly...
I'm concerned about making a mistake here. Anyone know where I can send out a sample of it to determine what it is ?
The master looked newer so the system has been worked on.
Ok so I am very close...Just primed the motor with oil as it has been sitting. A push pull hand pump used for priming oil burners and diesel fuel systems worked quite well.
I just did this test to try and determine what I have but still am not sure. I did not see layers in the jar but did see separation when I poured it out. Perhaps I used too much water and should redo the test ?
Well, with a little help from God, I will have it running today.
I do have a concern though about what to do with the flame heater. Is it worth re installing it ? I see the PO of the motor I bought had it plugged. Opinions ? I think if I reconnect it I will install a shutoff on the fuel line to...
it can pull enough air even without that. I blocked mine with the aircleaner disconnected and it still ran. All I can think of was the steel plate I used didn't provide enough seal and also I believe it started sucking oil past the turbo seals under vacuum.
I was thinking about that too. A shutoff would be easy to install.
I made a mistake about unplugging the fuel pump. I was thinking about this last night.I re-read my own post(14)...
Since it was converted anyway, find a blown up 6.5 TD and grab everything off it and convert to serpentine belt. It was the best thing I ever did and now I use a CS130 alt.
The filters were empty when it died. I had to pull the secondary one down to fix the blown out oring. I reprimed it and the engine still ran afterwards although there was damage.
I had first tried to visegrip th synflex fuel supply line from the filters to the IP but it built up too much pressure in the Fuel filter and blew out the oring on the cover and started spraying fuel everywhere so I took it off and then unplugged the LP.
I hear you. I have on other diesels. In my case, I was ready with a block off for the air and prepared to stall it in gear. What I did not know was the PO had already had it runaway and he smoked the clutch to the point where it did nothing so with it choked I unplugged the LP and after about...
It was how I finally killed mine. Unfortunately it was too late.
Let me expand on that. I don't know the IP on the Deuce that well but I assume you mean the internal transfer pump can keep pulling fuel even with no lift pump ? Perhaps the lift pump is flow on fail ? But in my case being that the...
This will be a work in progress which I hope to get stickied as too many people have lost motors due to being unprepared for a runaway.
Runaway is when you cannot shut the engine down and it keeps gaining RPM until it self destructs. I lost my motor to it. So have other people recently which is...
I don't claim to be any expert on Multifuels and the design of the piston and FDC may play into things,I'll be honest, I am not sure..But...Big Butt...Oprah Winfrey Butt...How many 6bt's have been cranked up over 100 hps with little mods?
**** you can get 50 hp more out of a 6.2 by cranking the...
Well we determined the clutch is the correct one. I guess I see how it works when I get it fired up. It does not hit the hub.
Does anyone know which TM covers priming the motor with oil ?
