I love mine, cheap overdrive and got 5 of them for $75/pc. I didn't bother balancing mine and the ride was great once I drove the flat spots away. They are very quite. Gave $50 for the set of GM wheels, with the spare actually an old Ford wheel. More details in my signature link.
I installed a free slider in my 1008 from a friends scrap cab. I found it more difficult than the front glass due to the tighter radius, corners of the glass frame, when setting the seal. Be sure to use the rope trick with dish soap it will make it much easier!
Filtering down to 5-10 microns will ensure it's clean. If your engine is in good health, no coolant in the oil, you should have no problems.
Dudadiesel.com has cheap filter socks that are cheap and work great.
For filter media, the filter bags work very well. The link below is a great vendor of this product. For WMO progressively filtering in one pass down to 5 microns produces good results.

Back to the origional question. The 750...
A friend of mine buys them by the tractor trailer load. A couple of mine I had patched from the inside due to punctures, bullet holes etc. No trouble out of them, great tires.
I have concidered doing the same. A pair of secondary deep cycles may also get you by with no engine idle. With the fuel prices behaving as they are the deep cycles may pay for themselves very quickly. Keep us posted, and share pics of your setup if you can.
The link in my signature will have my lift specs. I was on a budget as well and used a drop pittman, no brace. So far no trouble, but also primarily use my truck to work. It rarely sees any heavy off roading.
The condition of my front springs were at about a 2 inch sag when I bought the 1008. This meant there was no soft travel left in them, and like you, my back took a beating. Since installing the lift and tires the ride has improved GREATLY. Lift details in my signature. If your not interested in...
