    6.2 gear drive

As some one who has owned many 6.2's and 6.5s and worked on more than I owned..there is nothing wrong with a timing chain. I have owned 6.2s that hit 330,000 miles on the original timing chain. The 6.2 is an ok engine if you leave it alone and don't beat the snot out of it. If you are looking...

    M1008 overdrive ?

I used a GM NV4500 from a 93 K3500. The bolt pattern from the trans to Bellhousing(not bellhousing to motor) from 92-95 is proprietary to GM. IN 96 GM used the same bolt pattern as Dodge so a 96+ NV4500 will bolt right up to a Cummins/dodge bellhousing. My 93 will not. The reason I had went with...

Major score at the swap meet this weekend.

find me a good job in Texas so I can get out of this armpit called Ct and you can borrow it anytime you want...

Major score at the swap meet this weekend.

It is basically a timing light for 6.2 diesels(probably an over simplified example) but basically the only way to truly time a 6.2 short of the original Kent Moore Luminosity probe but as pointed it can also be used to calibrate Tachometer install. The MT480's are not that hard to find but find...

    M1008 overdrive ?

Put an NV4500 in. Trust me. You'll love the truck afterwards. 700's are weak and a 4l80e requires electronics which negates the simplicity of our trucks. No way no how will a 700r4 even shine the shoes of an NV4500. It's a relatively easy swap. I have a detailed thread on it. Just use a 96+...

Major score at the swap meet this weekend.

I went to the swap meet at Thompson speed way in CT and scored a like new MT28 starter for 30$ but better yet...A Snap ON MT1408 Digital timing/rpm meter WITH ALL the probes including the hard to find MT161 for the 6.2 for 60$. Snap On no longer makes the probes and there was 6 with the tool...

M925 startup at 28 degrees Brrrrrrrr! No etheror block heater in WV

I know they came with the Ether injs but i still won't use ether on any diesel. I just don't like it. I'd go block heater.

Considering a m1009 as a daily driver, advice?

Yeah that is definitely a possibility. I would say though an M1009 with 31's and the 3.08s upgraded to an NV4500 should be able to hit 23-25 without issue. Atleast that is what I am hoping. I have a spare NV4500 setup just waiting for an M1009. My VW TDI gets 40+ but I hate driving such a tiny...

    CUCV Do's & Dont's

It is much easier to use the entire setup of an early 6.5TD. The serpentine belt setup fits like it was made for it and the CS130 Alt is an easy conversion and a more available part when needed.

    CUCV Do's & Dont's

I'm gonna disagree with that. Nothing worng with keeping it original if that floats your boat but converting the Starter to 12v has many advantages depending on what the truck is used for. With the 24v hybrid system 12v Accessories are only getting one battery as a buffer where as with 12v you...

    Swollen glow plug removal

This. Best way to avoid this in the future is use Bosch duratherms. The WAP's (aka Wellman) glowplugs commonly used in these are known to swell. You can buy a set of 8 for around 60$ from RockAuto. It's all I will use.

tip for starting diesel even though you have total glow plug failure.

Bad Idea. Good way to snap a crank. At the very least it will cook the glow plugs.I have even seen using it break the starter bolts. Heat gun in the intake is the best thing to do. I use it on my skid steer a there are no glow plugs on it and no way to heat it as it's air cooled.

    m1028 backlash problem

When I used to do these I took an old set of bearings and honed them out so they slid on and off easy and used them to set the Pinion depth and get the backlash as close as I could then press on the new bearings and re check. Usually was on the money. White Grease works too for contact. Don't be...

Considering a m1009 as a daily driver, advice?

I recently attended the Mil truck rally in NH and my buddy who is a Marine drove the m1008 behind m motorhome and we did 55mph the whole way. The M1008 got 25mpg. I actually took the filler neck of the tank to look in with a flashlight because I was in disbelief. If someone told me that id call...

Considering a m1009 as a daily driver, advice?

Actually gm gave light duty diesels a bad name withthose first gen handgrenade also know as the 5.7. It was used in cars and some 2wd pickups iirc. They blew up left and right and pretty much soured the public to gm diesel.gm then went to the Detroit division for a true diesel design. The...

    6bt in CUCV

Need I say more....DO IT !!! These GM 6.x motors are a poor excuse for a diesel. My biggest regret when I did my NV4500 swap was not using a later model NV4500 with the universal Bolt pattern. A fully built 6.2 runs like a worn out Cummins.. This guy is a friend of mine. This truck is...

PA - Fall 2013 Rausch Creek Steel Soldiers Rally

lol...My M1008 can do 75-80 with no issue... Man reading this I really wanna go. It's a 5 1/2 hour drive though...Probably longer with Traffic etc. If I somehow pull it off it will be a last minute decision. Is there room for a motorhome and my M1008 ? How many people realistically go to this ?

Milspray paint is garbage. Read on..

Milspray told me CARC can only be sold to Govt contractors and I needed a cage code. If you know where I can get it please either link or PM me. For now I bought the Aervoe but it was cheap and can always use it for another project. UI would love to paint this with real CARC. On an update note...
