    Turbo time! Installing 6.5 turbo

I didn't see anything about headgaskets. I changed mine and used ARP studs. The factory Prinotseal gaskets are garbage. I run 15 psi with no issues. The bottom end can hold that fine. It's the headgaskets that won't. Also a side note. Not sure what your frame looks like but mine had an extra...

    Ip question about advance piston.

Im having smoke issues and was told the advance may be worn out on my ip. The pump shop told me to depress the advance arm manually with the truck warmed up and idling and the motor should. Hange drastically. Mine just gets a little quieter. Do I need a pump ? I am seeing excessive gray smoke...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

It had 24 v glow plugs in it when I got it. Some MorOn actually made little adapters to go From spade to round to make them work. Needless to say it did not start good It has probably had ether ised on it many times in it's life before I got it.

Honestly i dont think the turbo did it. I think that cyl has been washed for awhile. God only knows what was done to the truck before I got it.

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

Well....i thunk this motor had issues before and this made it more evident. #8 cyl had staining and the crosshatch was gone when I pulled the head so now add 10psi boost.... I am going to look at a 94 6.5td engine tonight. I aill buy it if it looks good and Swap it this weekend. Then I'll pull...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

Well, this is why I should have just dropped a Cummins in it. The lower end gave out. I might cut it up for parts. I am not happy right now. These motors are junk and should be babied. This is what happens when you try to hot rod them. The crank will probably be next. What a waste of time and...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

Yes will take more pics. I used the 6.5 inj pump. It has slightly larger plungers plus it was rebuilt. No exhaust shop around here does anything for 100$ . The last crossover I had made cost me 230$.

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

BTW I want to clarify in case I didn't earlier, The modifications to the exhaust such as downpipe and crossover may not work for every truck. Mine has a 4 inch lift which made it easier.

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

BTW I know I will catch a lashing here for converting to 12v but it really is better off. The hybrid system to me seems more like a novelty of keeping it original or if you have other Mil vehichles to jump off off but the advantages of conversion for me outweigh it. Pros: I now have both...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

So it's running but the turbo started blowing oil out the exhaust and into the intke. That is turbo # 2. I have a reman one that had a stuck wastegate so I swapped the housing off turbo #1 but before I put it on I started thinking two turbos in a row...Hmmm.... Well I put the drain plate on...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

Well... The valve was bent which means about 3 days to get one. I drove all the way across the state to a junky for head. Had the right one. Brought it back. Got to the machinist around 6;15. He stayed late and took the valve I needed for the head and put it together and when the new valve...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

Nuther bridge I have to cross. Now that I am using the 6.2 heads and inj lines any issue with removing the timing probe adapter on the #1 cyl on the IP ? I don't think it will work with the #1 cyl 6.2 IP line. The 6.5 one is shorter to accommodate it. AFAIK it's only there for the Kent Moore...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

Well pass side 6.2 head is on. Mounted GM4 #2 that I got from VWLupo awhile back. Looks good and clean inside although it has been sitting awhile. GM4 #1 was pissing like a sick whore in a truck stop. The Turbonator boys will be proud of me. I recycled the Downpipe from the 6.5 for the first...

Installed Turbo, 12v conversion Serp belt lots more

Next day... well not been a good day. The heads form the junky were garbage, cracked and I wasn't paying 550$ for cracked heads so now I am screwed and I have a bare block outside sitting open. BTW I bolted the turbo manifold to the 6.2 head. it will work with short injs. 3rd cyl back...
