The MEP-002 and 003 IP's are AMBAC model 50 pumps. Parts are still out there available, but they are not cheap. AMBAC has a repair shop in Michigan somewhere, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the place. I have the AMBAC parts breakdowns here at the house. If you're coming...
LDT465 = 130 HP --> 2.5 ton Deuce
LDS465 = 180 HP --> 5 ton trucks, and some Deuces
Both are essentially the same, just need to change over a few things to make them swap. The oil pick-up tubes and the oil pan need to be reversed. The bell housing will need changed over to an LDT bell...
similar to what doghead said, with a little more info. The MEP-002a and MEP-003a use the same IP. It is an AMBAC model 50. The MEP-002a has 2 ports capped off though. Your post if a bit confusing. Do you have an 003a that is missing the IP, or are you looking for an IP for your 002a?
I would be very interested to hear and see more about this. The MEP-004 and 005's are 3 phase only according to the TM. They do not have a selector switch, they use a reconnection board for high and low voltage selection. Please post information and pictures.
The 4 cylinder is probably the MEP-004a (15 KW) and the 6 cylinder is probably the MEP-005a (30 KW). They both look the same but one has a larger motor. Both are way too big for most residential back-up power, and both are strictly 3 phase only in the original configuration. There was a post...
The OEM filter elements are widely available at race-mart.com, and I believe rockauto.com. Also, non OEM replacements are available from NAPA. Do a quick search for MEP-003 filters (or a variation of that, our search feature isn't the easiest thing to navigate) and you'll probably turn up...
I thought about that, but the reason I mounted it like it is, was for the air flow and because of the position of the doors on the enclosure. The front of the trailer behind the air tank has a platform to stand on so getting to the controls is not going to be an issue. The rear door of the...
dyno,
These are very robust units and very well build. If it runs good it should easily last you for the rest of your lifetime. To add to what Carl and Boatcarpenter said. DO NOT let these sets Idle! They are intended to get up to speed as soon as you start the set. DO NOT switch the...
Well, I have a progress report sooner than I thought I would. My neighbor called up this afternoon and asked me if I could look into the wiring on his back-hoe for him. His generator/regulator wasn't hooked up and he wanted to get his battery charging on it's own again. He said if I had the...
No progress update as of yet, but I did take it up to get it weighed for the registration today. The Elliot Machine Works Model ENG-T3 trailer and LSU skid base weigh in at #3360. Since I do not need a title in Ohio for trailers weighing less than #4000, I don't need to waist the money for an...
I was wondering when you were going to get around to mounting that thing. It looks good in the bed of that truck, but it would look better in the bed of mine :twisted:. Seriously though, the first "planting" you get to help out with at the local cemetery, make sure you post pics...you know how...
jas67,
Sorry to hear about the bad luck with your generators. But like Ike mantioned. Diesels are a hearty engine. Put some Marvel oil in them, and let them soak a few days. If you get them freed up, try to check the bearings before you fire them up. You may get lucky and get them running...
yeah Greg, that's the plan. It should keep some of the road spray off of the generator in the event of foul weather driving. And the LSU enclosure will help to keep it dry and away from the elements. The enclosure leaks a little bit, but not too bad.
Just wanted to bring this back up to the top for any help. I have the tank out of the trailer finally, and ready to move if anybody can assist. It's not very big. I'll get some dimensions tomorrow morning and post them up. It's not overly heavy either, maybe 20, 25 pounds or so.
Like...
Oh, where to put this thread, "trailers", or "aux equipment"????
Today I started in earnest working on my lube trailer/gen trailer conversion. My neighbor came over this morning when I got home from work, and we lifted the cover off of the lube trailer with his back-hoe. Then he was kind...
OBC,
Glad to hear you got it squared away. Troubleshooting these sets really isn't that big of a deal. The TM will get you there; but the way I had you do it, in my opinion anyway, will get you there a little quicker.
Bob,
Spare parts are always a good idea...LOL. I'm not sure if the EOM...
It sure sounds like the regulator to me, now that I know what you tested. I'm curious to know if the other one you have fixes your problem. If it's a good one it should. The fact that you are only getting 24.6 volts running tells me that either your VR is bad or the stator behind the blower...
