Basically, you will want to disconnect the negative battery terminal. Use your multimeter (set for DC amps) to complete the circuit. Black lead attached to the negative post of the battery, and the red lead attached to the negative battery cable terminal. With the set not running, this will...
First off, those do not look like woodruff keys to me. That is just standard square keystock, with the ends rounded off and placed into key slots milled into the shaft. A woodruff key is pictured below.
When I have to remove keys like that, I always use a large pair of electricians side...
I believe this is the piece you are talking about. I can't find any reference to what exactly it is, but maybe someone else can have a better idea now that there is a picture of it.
NSN...5340-00-999-6277
Description...BRACKET ASSEMBLY
Part Number....13214E214
Cage Code...97403
Found it in TM...
The TM shows it as being a 12 lead head. Generator heads like motors are pretty standard, and I've never seen a 10 lead motor. 3, 6, 9 or 12 lead is what you usually get. Not to say that they are not out there, but just not very common.
Jerry,
First off, the load bank manufacturer/distributor you talked to pretty much hit the nail on the head about wetstacking. If you at least run the generator at load every now and then to get it to operating temperature and allow it to burn off the deposits left behind it will be fine. The...
Jerry,
Take a look at this thread, Lube trailer is a winner. From what you are describing, it is possibly a newer model PM92/PM96 trailer.
Most of the other models are a bit of an older design and have considerably heaver trailers under them (mine needs a deuce to pull it). Here is a thread...
Phil,
That's a big project, but I can see you have your "helper" all lined up and ready to work. I can't wait to see the finished project at the GA rally later in the year. Good luck with it!!!!
Agreed!
These are just normal diesels, not multifuels like the deuce. If you would run WMO/WVO through your pick-up truck diesel, then feel free to run it in the generator. But I wouldn't do it, for just the reasons that Carl mentioned
I agree with rat4spd, I run mine like there was never an outage at all. Not that I can't handle having the lights and AC off for a day or two. But it all goes back to an age old saying, that still rings true today, and all you "macho" men out there can boast and brag all you want about it not...
you can also buy pretty much the same stuff from McMaster Carr (industrial supply house). They have a lot of different kinds to sift through, but some very nice choices for replacement hose.
I don't think that there is any such animal as an MEP-002 or 003,they are all "a" units (I could be wrong though). The 002a is 5 KW and the 003a is 10 KW.
The guy running the ad is trying to snowball somebody, it's a 5 KW unit. There is no "peak" rating on these sets, but the starting...
I don't blame you...working in the snow sucks. At least we have global warming to thank for such a mild winter
Keep us posted on your progress, and the repair especially.
Well Stretch, since you've made it official, and I got called back to work finally, I decided to look at my work schedule for those dates. As luck would have it, I start my hillbilly weekend on the 10th and don't have to return till the 14th. So unless something bad happens I'll be there and I...
That's what we're here for .
There are some other sites with really good information about these generators, but the way I see it is this. S.S. is the premier site for information about military vehicles and equipment correct? Since these are pieces of military equipment, I want to have...
Gary,
I agree with Carl, it sounds like you're heading in the right direction now. The TM has a fairly simple "out of the unit" test circuit you can construct to test the VR. But you'll need a power supply to build it. If you can find the components/parts the testing procedure is pretty...
Troop seat stuff is available from the OEM at Stephan Wood Products Inc. in Lansing MI. I ordered the "headache" racks for my fiberglass seat project from them. e-mail Frank at SWP and tell him the NSN's you are after and he can quote you a price. You can buy just the components or the...
Mine start showing output right away, no delays. The TM actually does a pretty good job of narrowing down potential problems. But I would be curious to see if the field flash does anything for it.
Yes, there is a manual field flash. Just turn the main switch to "start" for a few seconds after the set is running. I would try that before I start digging into the VR.
But like Bob said...if the VR is the trouble, I'm pretty sure every component is available for it. Just need to know where...
