Slammerdown,
Welcome aboard.
Here is a quote from a thread about the Rally..."There won't be a thread for awhile, but the location is the same as last year and the dates are Oct. 20-24 (Wednesday through Sunday). The Ga. Rally will always be the weekend before Halloween."
The location is at...
Poly,
First off welcome to the site.
now for the questions...
If you can get a MEP-003 from e-pay that has been gone over and running for $2000, I say get it. The way prices have been going on GL lately, you're going to pay 1200 to 1500 for a set that is in totally unknown condition. They...
Carl,
I'm guessing that from the ease you have starting your set and getting oil pressure when it's cold...you have the luxury of keeping yours indoors??? Even in an unheated garage maybe????
When it's 20 to 25 here; mine (that sit outside) take about 3 or 4, 10 seconds cranks to get the oil...
so, this must be how you keep a generator junkie in suspense
We need pics and videos man...LOL
Jonathan, I hope she fires right off for you and makes good power. The fact that she turns over is a BIG step forward!
You can check your frequency meter by following the TM 5-6115-584-34, page 2-11 (the troubleshooting section). It tells you first off to check the transformers T1 and T2. The procedure to check these transformers can be found in the TM 5-6115-584-12, chapter 4 paragraph 4-38 section 14 and 15...
jbk,
If all of the instrumentation and metering of your generator works, I would not bother to replace the CV/CVT. The plastic that is broken is just the mounting cases. The actual plastic that protects the coils of the CT/CVT are inside of that case (kind of like a double layer of plastic)...
I run mine at least once a month for an hour or two. Lately it seems that I've been running them due to the power outages more than just for exercise. I really wish I could keep them in the garage, but I don't have room for them inside yet. Sooner or later though I will build my shop and then...
Jonathan,
Not that I'm aware of about the websites...but if you call Delks and ask for generator parts, they are about the best people out there. They WILL try to help you diagnose a problem before you spend the money on a part. Just because of that I'll go back to them to buy parts even if...
The MEP-002a is a 2 cylinder Onan/Cummins DJ series (70 C.I.D.)...no longer made, and very few "new" engine parts available. But, they are actually very, very reliable!!
That's interesting Bill, The spare injectors I have are stamped Yanmar. It's good to know that Bosch made some too....maybe they are still in production?????
Like Carl said, the IP parts are out there and rather pricey. Injectors can be bought used from some surplus dealers. They are a Yanmar injector, but I have no idea if they are still available new or not. I doubt it though. As far as filters go, the fuel filters are widely available at NAPA...
The regulator going out on your MEP is not really an issue at all. The TM has all of the schematics and testing procedures spelled out in it. So repairing the voltage regulator is not an issue. Yes, you may have to pay an electronics shop to do it if you don't feel comfortable with a...
nonotagain,
you are correct about the CID. I didn't look in the TM, I used some information posted on GL of all places...I should have known it was wrong...LOL
The bore of these engines is 3.5 inches, compared to most of the civilian DJC's (I think) which are 3.25 inches. The stroke is...
If I remember correctly, the military did have an auto start kit for these ( I think I saw it in a TM one time, could be wrong though). But working in industrial controls I can tell you that you can make these units auto start, although it would be cost prohibitive for most people. I am going...
I can't say for sure, BUT, the AC adapter would likely go into the control unit where the two leads of the solar panel go into it. So, if you would cut those leads and put some kind of connector on the leads, and the same kind on the AC adapter leads, you should be able to interchange them at...
Now, that's what I like to see. A beautiful restoration like that, but you're also not afraid to take it out and play with it...that's what these trucks were meant to do and that one looks great doing it.[thumbzup]
