    rewiring MEP004 for single phase

Gary, rat4spd is absolutely correct...wet stacking can occur with an air cooled engine, but it will not happen as easily. It's just the nature of the beast, an air cooled engine will naturally run a little hotter than a liquid cooled one.

Gun Chuck, If you know for sure it's the regulator, call Southern Automotive...google them, they are still in business and still supplying the govt.

FT. Riley, KS Pick-up and Storage help, please?????

I'm sure he probably would have wanted to but we were working on a VERY long day by the time we got to KS, and still had a lot of driving ahead of us when we left. That and we didn't make it all the way to Riley, we stopped at Jeff's place which is East of the base.

Isn't that the way it always goes Jeff...the help just starts pouring in after the job is done. I do appreciate all of the offers though, even if they are a bit late

    rewiring MEP004 for single phase

good point m16, but I'm also willing to bet that you don't use your tractors like that every single time you get them out too. The problem crops up a lot more because of prolonged usage like that...if you have a 60 KW generator that is running your 1200 sq/ft home, it's NEVER going to see...

    rewiring MEP004 for single phase

Ike, Good points, but with the appliances, especially furnaces and probably some stoves, and even dryers, the control transformer inside the appliance will need to be rewired or replaced, or you will not have the voltage necessary for the controls of your appliance. This in itself can be a...

    rewiring MEP004 for single phase

they are Wye connected...from what I've seen the military like to use the Wye configuration a LOT. 120/208 and 240/416 are both wye voltages as is 480/277. 120/240 and 240/480 are standard delta voltages. If you set the generator for the lower voltage of 120/208, you would indeed get single...

    15 minute rule - flustrating

I personally don't care one way or the other about the 15 minute rule, I just do as stumps said...I put my bid in and wait. I like to watch the end of the auctions, but I always try to stay within what I think the item is worth to me. I can however see how this rule could be problematic, and...

    rewiring MEP004 for single phase

Welcome aboard Fred. I replied to your PM this morning. Although I explained it in the PM, I'll repeat it here for others who might have the same thoughts. First these generators are a "brushless" design. Meaning that use an induced voltage to excite the rotating field rather than brushes...

    Bumperette Dump Hinge?

gringeltaube, I'm VERY interested to see as many drawings as you will have, and detailed pictures of your set-up. That is something very similar to what I plan on doing to mine when I do the conversion...so maybe I can steal some ideas from your project, or modify my plans with some of your...

Back up recovery plan, just in case

I'll be with you, but it has to be moral support only...I'll be out of the state at that time...sorry. I hope everything goes well, and make sure you get lots of pics.

    Genset question, 400 Hertz MEP-114A

most of the PTO generators are actually 3600 RPM heads attached to a 7:1 gearbox. It still baffles me as to why a pretty much useless 400 Hz generator brings so much money.

    Need a pick-up at Ft McCoy Wisconsin...Please

roscoe, thanks for the offer...I have a pm out to the gentlemen going over on the 21st...waiting to hear back. Also waiting to hear from drgreg. I guess worst case, I'll have to check to see what my deadline for removal is, and find a way to make the trip myself....Mike @ McCoy is a great guy...

    Genset question, 400 Hertz MEP-114A

I'm sorry to say, but for the cost of changing it over to something useful, you may be better off taking the hit and paying the fee. Unless you got such a great deal on it that you could scrap out the generator portion and sell off other parts to make up your money. There really isn't any...

    Need a pick-up at Ft McCoy Wisconsin...Please

Let me correct that....you can change the title of the message in the thread, but not the title seen when you do a forum search or look up new posts...maybe the mods could change this if you needed that changed.
