/\ /\ /\ what he said. The "C" turbo is the whistler, and the "D" turbo is the non whistler. The "C" at the end of the engine model doesn't really have anything to do with the turbo type.
Congrats on the great recovery, and that's a fine looking truck.
By the way...Mahdey and I are trying to...
I would be most concerned with the fact that the picture of that truck was taken in the GL lot at McCoy!!!
That means that the seller probably does not have a clear title for it yet!!! Also, the damage he's referring to was probably like that when he went to pick it up because he did't preview...
first off welcome to the site.
Good luck getting AAA to come to assist you in a deuce! People have tried before and have had less than stellar results from AAA.
I don't think you'll have too much trouble driving it back....driving it is not much different than a car. Stopping it however...
the key words you used were "at this time"...make them removable, because you, like the rest of us...will probably want to get more military stuff down the road.
the 12 volt relays will work also, as long as you put the coils in series just like you are wanting to do with the lights. But the same thing will happen...if one relay coil goes bad....they both stop working.
As strange as it sounds, when you're in the industry (electrical maintenance) long enough you see a lot of bad stuff right out of the box.
A saying I've been repeating to people for years goes like this..."New, only means it's never been used. Not that it's any good"
I glanced at the troubleshooting section of the TM 5-6115-465-34 just a bit ago. I didn't get to go in depth into it yet, but right on page 2-6 (Table 2-2 step 14) under the troubleshooting section it describes almost the exact problem you are having...

I'll have to look into the manuals when I get some free time, but all of the MEP's I've seen are self excited...meaning once you get them flashed and producing power they self excite from that point forward. If Warthog was able to get it producing 60 Hz and about 75 volts, that should have been...
naahhh, Gimp was still in good spirits, considering his wrecker was a wreck.
I'm sorry I couldn't make it back out on Saturday. I know you guys didn't do much if any wrenching, so you really didn't need another person getting in the way; but I would have liked to have seen that train going...
use a low ohm meter and make sure you're not grounded through the motor armature...the armature will be a very low resistance, but should not be zero!
Have you had anybody else turn it on for you to make sure it's even turning before the breaker trips? Possibly a brush problem (one of them...
Sorry, I was just trying to clear up the differences in why the sets are rated why they are...honest! But the power triangle is why I didn't get out the old books and start reading about it again for the post...I was going by memory. I didn't like it the first time around when I had to learn...
I just talked to gimp a little while ago, they were on the way to oilcan's storage yard to get gimps spare LDS in the can that tumbled down the hill.
I can't get back over there until later in the morning tomorrow or early afternoon, but tomorrow morning, they're going to get anything bolted to...
I just pulled this image out of a Briggs 10 KW generator manual I found on the internet...it shows the 50 amp receptacle on the generator, but below the picture it tells you that you should only connect a load that requires 41.6 amps.
So that example shows that the civilian sets are NOT...
