JCKnife,
Here is the thread I posted about refinishing my uprights and putting on the new side planks and installing the fiberglass seats.
Today I started my troop seat project
Good luck with your trip...I wish I would be home to offer assistance, I'll be along your route somewhere, but I'm leaving Tuesday to head the the GA rally.
Check your transmission level before you take off....I know from experience!!!
That's good to know, but for $30 extra bucks, I think I would buy the new one.
If Delks only wanted $50 or $60 maybe a good deal, but it's not much more to buy new.
I'm not going to type my story out...you can read about it here recovery complete!!!!
Here is some of the beginnings of the adventure, as posted by drgreg Speddmon's Adventure
Well, I got the parts for the starter today and put the starter back together....but it's still doing the same thing. When the starter engages the flywheel, it's like the overrunning clutch in the Bendix is slipping back or something. I'm sure these go bad from time to time, but when you move...
TM 9-2320-361-24-1 Work Package 132 has the specifics for the transmission install. You adjust the clutch free play (throwout bearing to pressure plate forks) by measuring the distance from the clutch release arm to the frame of the transmission....should be about 3.25 inches
Copy of TM work...
Well,
I heard back from the OEM for the DC voltage regulators...Southern Automotive Wholesalers, Inc.
Here is the e-mail I recieved from them.
I looked at the page, and they want $129 for it...I think it's kind of high, but unless you can find it used somewhere....what choice do you have. For...
I'm curious, since many of us have never been to this rally, or any other rallies before, are you having any t-shirts like some of the others do???
I'm like Blythewoodjoe, it will be kind of overwhelming meeting a whole bunch of new people, and names/user ID's. But name tags to me seem so...
The alignment tool is a 1 1/2" dia and I believe a 10 spline tool, but it's got an odd pilot size....the pilot is only 3/4" on the deuce, and the standard size for most 1 1/2 dia input shafts is around an inch or so....I had a local machine shop turn mine down for me in about 10 minutes (I...
I've been reading all of this with mixed feelings...I personally think many people are over reacting, but that post made me laugh....That's the best prayer I've ever heard!!!!!!
Carl, it's sealed...
Don't loose hope yet...I stumbled across the OEM today for both the starter and DC voltage regulators for the MEP-003/002a's while looking for other things. They are still in business, and I'm going to put in a call tomorrow during business hours to see if it's still...
JT and Dave,
Thanks for the tips and offers. I went out today and picked up my parts from the starter shop. They showed me what was wrong with it (most of which I already knew). The brushes of course, the planetary train is plastic on these starters (imagine that) and that was broken into...
It should be at the bottom of the board, around the middle somewhere....it's going to be a pot actually, not so much a resistor.....It's circled in the attached copy from the TM -24
I'll just be happy to hear you got it running smoothly once again....maybe someday down the road at a distant...
The connector you are talking about is what get's power to your glow plugs and the intake manifold heater. I believe that plug also feeds the voltage regulator and fuel stop solenoid as well....nothing that will keep it from starting though (Other than the fuel stop solenoid, but that is...
It wouldn't create a problem, as long as you remember to open the switch when your oil pressure comes up...or you could do some serious damage if you would loose oil pressure.
In all honesty, you'll probably never burn up that resistor if you watch what you're doing....The longest I've had to...
