    Legal bumper height?

Why not just add "temp" lower bumper extensions? You could use another deuce bumper with brackets to add it below your stock bumper, add it when you hit the hiway, make it removeable when you go to shows or off road. There is always a way to get around the murky legal stuff. Plus it could keep a...

Work on the War Pig continues

I'm anxious to hear how the Cummins swap-in goes. Do we assume you are going to use the tranny out of the Dodge PU also? How will you mate it to the transfer case? Let's hear a little more about the mechanics of the drivetrain!

M820A2 is home safe...Now it's time to check her out!

The truck is really looking good! I like your interior colors for the box.

    Lookign for first deuce... NorCal

You might want to check out www.Idahomotorpool.com and look over thier inventory. They go over the trucks they sell, and you get to test drive it and look it over before you buy it, no surprises. Sometimes you can get bit by a GL truck, the "good deal for only $1,200" can become a money pit when...

    My Mercedes GD 240

Did they make the Deutz in a troop hauler style, or with a box on the back like an M35/M109?

    bumper steps

I made my own 2-step and it folds up from my winch bumper and has a wire catch that hangs from a hole on the front fender brace to hold it in the upright posistion. Most folks who have seen it think it is OD and want to know where I got it. They like the longer length with two steps for us older...

    Arkansas Tank?

Back in about 1944 a friend of my dad lived in central California near St Helena. Two Corsairs crashed during bad weather on a local mountain in a rather remote area. About a week after the Army Air Corp did thier removal of the pilots remains and took whatever else they wanted, this guy and a...

    My collection of Deuce trucks

Nice bunch of trucks! I have always wondered how the political climate is over in that part of the world, do you take alot of heat for having Military Vehicles, or is it considered "politically correct" to own one?

    And the project has started

Alex and Frank at Idaho Motor Pool just put a deuce bed on a five-ton tractor with the short wheelbase that they then put the big super single tires on. (In short order pics should be posted on thier website.) Anyway, when I first saw it, I was suprised at how short the 12-ft deuce bed looked on...

    Practical uses for a Deuce

    1) Cheaper then a psychiatrist for that feel good mental therapy it brings. 2) For some it is better and cheaper then hanging out at the bar or chasing wild women. (I know I will catch plenty of heat from some of you southern boys and northwest loggers for saying that!) 3) If you live somewhere...

    Hauling a Deuce

Dieseler, you have a huge leg up on a lot of folks by having a CDL and commercial plates on your truck! Just make sure you don't drastically overload the carry capacity of your truck and trailer like a lot of people do, it sounds like you have experience hauling heavy stuff so you should do fine.

1954 5 ton bridge truck Boise, ID

That may be one that Idaho Motor Pool had for sale a while back, and sold locally. I live about 12 miles down the road from them, and it is not one I have seen recently on the place. I wonder how hard it would be to convert the gas engine to a more modern diesel, say a 3126 Cat? Also, aren't the...

    Hauling a Deuce

Just remember that in some states you have to be licensed commercial (both truck and driver) to have a GCVWR that exceeds 26,000 lbs. Some state really enforce this, other states let it slide somewhat. My '07 one-ton Dodge 4X4 dually flatbed diesel weighs right at 10,000 lbs empty. My three...

    Which engine?

From what little research I have done on Mogs, I thought that all 404's had the M180. Unless it was changed out by someone? Can you post pics so the real experts can have thier say??

    MY M54A2 has arrived

Nice looking truck! In the past, with old cars or pickups that I have had that leaked at a rear or front main seal, I would sometimes add an oil additive that would cause seals to swell up if they were old and shrunken. Sometimes it helped, if the seals were not too old and dry. I have a '94...

    winch/pto problems? help!

My winch lever on the winch has to be moved in and out of gear with a pipe for added leverage when the pto is engaged and the clutch is out. This is only for when the winch is powered unloaded in or out, not when it is under load. When it is under load, you do not use the lever on the winch...

Anyone want to sell their bobbed deuce??

Check with Alex and Frank at www.idahomotorpool.com they have a couple of nice bobbed deuces for sale. They are about 45 miles west of Boise.

    GVWR question

In Oregon they charge you for what weight rating you want, up to 25,999 lbs. Over that and then you are in commercial truck territory and needing a CDL. My deuce is in the 22,000 to 24,000 lb range and I pay about $325 per year for truck plates. Register it for what its max GVWR is, 23,500 lbs...

To re power or Not to re power

Why not go for a Cummins 5.9L with a 5-spd? You should be able to find a wrecked Dodge pickup in a wrecking yard somewhere with a good engine and trans to swap into your truck. Why does it cost so much to bring an M35A2 accross the border, do they charge you lots of custom fees?
