UPDATE -
Major back surgery postponed until next March. Got my 12-bolts sand-blasted & painted. Mounted new BFG's with Trail Worthy's inserts. Installed new steel 2" spacers. Running Centromatic balancers between spacers & wheels. Absolutely smooth ride with 45 psi tire pressure. Here's a...
An inherent problem with this model of GM trucks and blazers has always been the less-than-ideal lighting of the instrument panel. There have been numerous threads on SS and other sites regarding ways to increase the brightness, all with varying levels of success. One method which seems to...
I'm 99% sure I will be getting mine from Mad Dog Transmissions in Georgia. Lou will build it anyway you want it for a reasonable price.

what at type of housing are you mounting the gauges in?
I plan to fabricate a metal face plate and mount it and the gauges in the area where the volt gauge is currently. I will move the volt gauge down to the radio block-out plate.
Well I've spent the better part of the evening looking online at alternative USA-made gauges and nothing will, in my opinion, "look" better in my M1028 than the HMMWV gauges. And since they were designed and manufactured for our military, I truly think they may be the best-quality gauge as...
Ok I am almost ready for this 700R4 swap but have a few questions and would sincerely appreciate advice. I have acquired the taller GM 14038663 transmission-to-transfer case adapter, new GM 25515599 TV cable, and infamous TV cable bracket. I plan to purchase a completely rebuilt 700R4 from one...
OK I am almost ready to install these gauges, however a thought occurred which caused me to ask a follow-up question -
Are these OEM HMMWV gauges illuminated? There is nowhere for an auxiliary bulb to fit, so if they are illuminated, they must have some sort of self-illumination built in. If...
I am preparing to install new high back HMMWV seats in my M1028. Planning to fabricate new brackets to provide proper adjustment. I will post photos in my rebuild thread once I get started.
I bought a 10-pack of male and female just in case.
I will post photos of this when i get it all done in case anybody has any interest.
Thanks everyone for your posts!
I've never owned a HMMWV, however I am wanting to install these gauges in my M1028 CUCV. I have no idea if they will work, or if they will, how to wire them up. I purchased them from our favorite auction site and they were listed as new HMMWV gauges, however I haven't a clue. I figured the...
Thanks everyone for your comments.
I have purchased 2 new HMMWV high-back seats and plan to retrofit them into my M1028. Haven't a clue how I will accomplish the task, however I will photo-document the process, whether successful or not, in my rebuild thread.
OK, I have purchased 2 new high-back HMMWV seats and plan to install them in my M1028. I will photo-document the entire process and update my rebuild thread in case anybody else wants to do the same.
Stay tuned.
Thanks Recovry. Having digested your comments, I believe I will go with new HMMWV high back seats and fabricate the required brackets necessary for them to slide and recline. Here's the seats I am considering -
I'm considering changing the bench seat in my M1028 for a pair of bucket seats. I'm looking at high-back HMMWV seats, which really look comfortable, however I am not sure how they would bolt up in a CUCV truck.
Question - do the bucket seats in a M1010 bolt in the same way and with the same...
