I have restored and rebuilt a low mileage M1028 truck and love it, however after 2 back surgeries and 2 hip replacements the factory bench seat is killing me. I'm considering taking the thing out and replacing it with a pair of HMMWV seats. Has anybody had any experience with this sort of...
My M1028 has been fully restored, including the bench seat. However after 2 back surgeries and 2 hip replacements, the factory seat just ain't comfortable anymore. It seems I am riding too high and too far forward and too close to the steering wheel.
Just curious, has anybody retrofit the...
If your heater is working as designed you should have ample heat and defrost for normal winter temperatures in Michigan. Just remember it takes a 6.2 a while to warm up to operating temperature. An arctic grille cover will increase cab heat, however you should add a temperature gauge to keep...
You need 1/4"-20 Heavy Duty Rivet Nuts from McMaster Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/121/3306/=zgujfw
Don't buy the aluminum - get the Zinc Chromate plated steel ones 95105A143 for $9.08 for a pack of 25. You will also need a sharp 25/64 drill and a tool to install the rivet nut...
My wheels are the newer version 12-bolts with the alignment hole in the inner and outer wheel halves. When I broke them apart they had the red O-rings. I believe my problem is probably that darn Super glue. I have ordered new O-rings and plan to break my wheels apart and clean the grooves...
Tage - how did you use the RTV? Did you run a bead in the groove and then set the O-ring into it? Did you add RTV on top of the O-ring to seal to the outer rim? Thanks.
Thanks everybody for your comments. I used Super Glue because that was recommended by the vendor from which I purchased my O-rings. The O-rings that came with the re-furbish kit were all too small for the groove, so the vendor's instructions were to stretch the O-rings for a period of time and...
Hello everybody. This is my first post in the HMMWV forum and I need to request assistance.
I mounted 12-bolts on my CUCV and am having issues with the wheels losing air. I purchased 6 12-bolt wheels from a reputable SS vendor and media blasted them inside and out. I then primed and...
Chaski - to clarify, I'm not referring to the TV cable, but instead, the linkage cable that attaches the TV cable to the IP and snaps into the bracket.
Does anybody know if the cable linkage is still available for the 700R4 brackets? It seems there are several sources for the bracket only without the cable. If the cable were still available these brackets would be complete and useable. A GM part number would be helpful.
Thanks.
I already have cross-over steering, and now plan on installing ORD's high-steer and hydraulic assist unit which draws it's fluid power from the power steering pump. Since my pump is 31 years old, I considered replacing it to handle the extra load, and was wondering if there is a higher volume...
The civi brackets are selling for $100 and up, however it seems the HMMWV brackets are plentiful and cheap. If the HMMWV brackets could be made to work it would probably help more members to do the 700R4 swap. It looks to me that the only modification required would be the hole where the GM...
I was scrolling through the HMMWV section of SS and came across these photos which seem to show a TV bracket. Anybody know if this can be retrofitted to a 6.2, and for a 700R4 cable?
Yeah I saw his ad and your reply. I just paid $100 for my TV bracket and was glad to get it for that price. I will cease to attempt to help the fellow.
