    Wrangler VS BFG

If you run the spacers, you will have no problems. I do plan to run spacers, however I would prefer steel spacers instead of aluminum. Does anybody know a source for these?

    Wrangler VS BFG

I robbed the photos off pee-bay of a single wheel and tire for sale. I am still looking for new, never mounted tires. My decision is made, I want to run the BFGs. Does anybody know a good source?

    Wrangler VS BFG

Rich - I plan on getting a set of the Centromatics. I see the model is HMR-8, is this correct? Those mount snug up the back of the wheel with the balancing tube inward? Any contact issues with the brake caliper? No wait! I forgot I'm going to use 2" spacers.

    Wrangler VS BFG

Thanks everyone for your comments. My decision is whether to run Goodyear 37x12.5x16.5 HMMWV take-offs or go with new same-size BF Goodrich BAJA T/A like in the photos below. My questions are - Which brand will provide the best traction? Which brand will provide the best ride quality? Which...

Kinda got carried away..... M1028 rebuild

No I have not yet installed the factory 4000 rpm GM tach. After I rehabed from both hip surgeries, my neurosurgeon is now telling me I must have another back surgery soon. It is starting to look like I will need to hire somebody to install the tach and do a few remaining things on my truck...

    M1009 16" wheels

I agree with Porky. You need additional wheel strength if you plan to go off road by yourself.

How to mount 37" - 24 bolt HMMWV wheels and tires on an M1028

Mr Goldneagle, your truck looks fantastic. A couple questions - do I understand your post to say you used 2" spacers behind the front wheels but not behind the rear wheels? Also, what method of wheel balancing did you use? Thanks.

How to mount 37" - 24 bolt HMMWV wheels and tires on an M1028

Ditto on what Skinny said above, especially the part about that Big Wet Dream. I raised my M1028 with a 4" spring lift + 1" Zero Rates in the front, and 4" shackle flip + Zero Rates in the rear, for a total of 5" front and back. I relocated the front axle 1" forward to increase inner fender...

    High Volume Power Steering Pump

Well folks, I have been struggling with this decision all afternoon, but I finally came to grips with it. Now that I have made the decision, I am done thinking about it and will proceed with procurement of the winch and everything necessary to get it mounted and hooked up. I will turn 64 years...

    High Volume Power Steering Pump

Guys I am lost. When I started this thread I was ****-bent to use a hydraulic winch powered by a stronger engine-driven PS pump. Then Keith J and Skinny's comments caused me to abandon that idea and change directions to an electric winch. Now after Chaski's comments, I am leaning back towards...

    High Volume Power Steering Pump

Keith J and Skinny - Thanks for your comments, and thanks for reminding me that the hydro boost brake system also relies on the power steering pump to function properly. After considering the fluid demands of the steering and brake systems, I have come to the conclusion that the engine-driven...

    High Volume Power Steering Pump

Skinny - The reason that line pull was lost when the wheel was turned was because the factory Jeep pump does not have enough volume capacity to satisfy both demands for fluid power. That factory pump was designed and engineered to provide sufficient flow rate for the Jeep power steering only...

    High Volume Power Steering Pump

I plan to purchase and install a new HMMWV MileMarker hydraulic winch between the frame rails behind the front bumper of my M1028. These units obtain their hydraulic fluid (and power) from the engine's power steering pump. Because my pump is original and 30 years old, I had planned on...
