Well folks, I am ready to begin reassembly, and have a question regarding side marker lenses on the front fenders. I purchased new lenses from LMC, however these things are Chinese junk. One broke before I even got it installed!
Does anybody know of a source for higher-quality lenses, or...
OK guys, my M1028 has a GVW of 9400 lbs, so what should the bridge plate display, if not pulling a trailer? Where can I obtain the plates? Can I paint them myself? Are there stencils for the numbers?
Thanks.
Just yesterday I ordered all new interior parts for my M1028 from LMC. I shopped around and LMC seems to have the best selection at competitive prices. www.lmctruck.com Then click on the correct online catalog ('83 - '87 Chevy). very easy to use.
Because I needed new seat covers, dash...
Well, to answer Cucvfreak's question, I am not lifting my M1028 to look good, but instead to clear the 1100x20 NDT tires & wheels that are going on it. And I do indeed plan to haul a 500 gallon water tank in the bed here on the farm to water all my nursery trees. 500 gallons of water will...
The shackle flip kit repositions the rear of the entire spring assembly, including the helper spring leafs, lower from the frame. The bearing surfaces for the helper springs are attached to the frame, therefore they stay in the same position. Subsequently the shackle lift kit increases the...
And one other thing - the ALSD is crucial and should not be abandoned when lifting the truck. I plan to devise a new longer, adjustable connecting rod so the rear brakes will be providing 50% of the braking capacity when the truck is empty. I will photo-document this and post for all to see.
Well, since I first made the offer to John, it should be his right of first refusal. If he passes, then the first person to claim the deal has it.
I had planned to use the ORD rear shackle flip kit on my M1028, however after I purchased the kit I realized that the M1028 has the extra helper...
My rear battery hold-down has sever acid corrosion under the rubber coating. The metal frame seems to be OK and should clean up just fine, but in some places the white-powdery corrosion is 1/8" thick beneath the outer rubber coating. I began removing the rubber coating, however soon realized...
Another update - Saturday, August 21, 2010 -
Got the bumpers repainted and ready to go back on; got the cab interior painted and ready for trim; removed the bed, cleaned, primed, sanded and painted, ready to go back on. Still amazed at the absence of rust, gotta love those Arizona...
I plan to design & build a custom dash panel for my CUCV M1028, and want to use the same gauges as the M35A3, or similar, Does anyone know a source for these gauges?
Thanks.
Mike Gresham
Speaking of door & side glass - does anyone know of a source for completely rebuilt vent glass assemblies? LMC has lost their source for the rubber and therefore discontinued the parts. My frames are in excellent condition, as is the glass, however I need to find someone who can rebuild these...
Thanks to Nick Danger for the "Heads Up" on the windshield seal from LMC being too big. Would you happen to know the GM OEM part number of the original rubber?
Well, here's an update - we've got the entire truck stripped apart and are in the process of cleaning, sanding, priming, and first-coat painting the components. Using Gillespie 383 CARC substitute without hardener. Still haven't found one molecule of rust, even in the groove of the door sills...
Hello everyone. I am rebuilding a 1984 M1028 and would like to install a correct antennae, however do not know how to determine which antennae was used on this model.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I'm considering a M105 trailer, and was wondering which manufacturer is considered to have built the best trailer? There seems to have been several producers of this unit, and I would like to learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of each manufacturer. Please chime in, all comments are...
