I've had good luck with LEDs and I did find that issue (Hyper-Flashing) on bulbs on my motorcycle. I did not want to go with those inline resistors and luckily I found that you can now find high lumen leds that are plug and play and don't hyper flash. They are s little more money but so worth...
Led bulbs will give longer life and are much brighter. Can't see these trucks at night anyway so a little more visibility is a good thing. You just need leds that are 10v to 30v

Welcome to the herd. How is Rochester for getting your Hmmwv on the road ?
Took my M998 out today for the first time since Nov and it felt great to be out and about.
We need pics!!!

I see you are in PA. I would look at https://tnjmurray.com/ . I've purchased numerous parts from them and they have always treated me right. They are located in Delaware.

I've seen some of these stitching repairs and it is strong, permanent and frankly amazing what can be repaired but it is costly. A good block is relatively inexpensive and the issue is put to bed fast.

For the hell of it check the lower alt mount that goes to the head. Mine was tight but not tight enough and it gave me a ticking sound here and there and it bugged me.
Mark
It is normal but honestly if I had the heads off I would take them down to a machine shop and have them check the heads out. Much easier then putting her back together and running into an issue. I believe the "Diamond" stamped pre-cups are supposed to be the better ones. Keep us updated.

Yeah, it's not a good sign the cylinder is rapidly filling with coolant. You must pull that head /heads to find out what's going on. If water in the cylinder is let to stand it does some real damage over time. If the engine was liquid locked and rotated the engine is gone. The prognosis is not...
I had the same issue on the side of the road with a 350 chevy. Had a bolt start leaking where coolant should not be. I pulled the bolt stuffed a peice of leather into the hole and put the bolt back in. Never did anymore to it and never had another issue. Chances are the bottom of the bolt hole...
Most I can get in the summer is around 8 miles or so before the fan comes on. Could it be leaking on the water pump mounts? Since you were in there that is where I would start. Why did you change out the water pump? Good luck.

Well they do run rich and what you are saying may indeed be normal. If she is running rich it will show up on the exhaust and or the plugs. Toss a full can of Seafoam and some marvel mystery oil into the full fuel tank to help clear out any garbage. You also need to use a lead substitute in the...
You have a fuel enrichener not a choke plate. It puts more fuel in for combustion but not by reducing air flow. If you look down the carbs there is no clutch plates. Any smoke coming out the tail pipe? What shaoe are the plugs in? When did you last check the points?
Mark
The enrichener is set properly yes? This can definitely cause a rich issue. The enrichener was also used in desert environments to richen the mix to aid in cooling of the engine. Great trucks. You may have a stuck float or most likely your needle and seat have failed.
Is this truck new to...
Nice find. Those little 4-53 diesels are a great little motor but a little on the loud side.
Be careful with the starting fluids with the old detroit. Did you check the fuel rack before starting it for the first time? Those racks can bind up form sitting and if they do she could runaway from...
Never disconnect the battery/batteries while the engine is running. Fastest way I know to damage something (voltage spikes).
A multimeter will alow you to test the charging system without negative effects. The gauges are are always off to some degree.
