Like all the others I agree the seller should have a running truck for $5,000.00 . He's asking top dollar for a truck in that condition, so the bare minimum is at least a truck with good batteries and a running engine.
Plus the back pain you would have that night. At least I would have it. That has become my main decision-making mantra. How much will it hurt and how long will it benefit me. If the snow will only be around for a few days then the pain of putting on chains is not worth it. Now if the snow will...
If you ever watch the old WWII documentaries and the original 6X6's come out, you will see them flooring the trucks to get through those horrible mud holes and other muck messes. Same applies to the Vietnam war documentaries with the m35's . They had to floor them to get through the swamp...
Actually that is what "Montaillou" needs for all the weight he plans on hauling. That plus the extra springs would be just the ticket for him. Remember he plans on a "world trip" bringing everything including the kitchen sink ! That's a lot of weight.
Maybe the wind blew you over ?
At least over here we are over our snow/ice storm ! That got old real fast !!!
Still cannot drive up our driveway though. It's a sheet of ice still.
On the Wreckers I saw they doubled the frame. Basically, they just added another "C" channel frame inside the original one. Then bolted them together.
They did this to my Tanker truck I had too.
What you have mentioned is common problems of the Deuce. The brakes bleed down unless the fittings are tightened tight (45 to 60 ft Ibs) I know that is tight ! Also the wheel seals are notorious for leaking, another cause of no brakes. So many causes of no brakes !
So forget the brakes, you...
In a good tight fuel system, you can get away from the in-tank fuel pump. But ! if anything compromises it you will have a no start. The pump in the injection pump is not strong enough to pull fuel that far if there is any small leak which would cause the system to suck air.
Check your fuel...
Doesn't bother me at all, and I'm sure it doesn't bother most others either. In fact, I quite enjoyed your trucks pictures ! Plus a father should be proud of his sons accomplishments.
You must "manually" push in the button to reset the valve. That is of course after you fixed the pressure loss. You would only need the one valve too. It would split from front to rear. The two rear axles would be on the same circuit.
It would work if you only wanted to isolate the rear brakes from the front brakes and not each individual wheel. So, if you had a non air-force truck this would give you some safety factor.
There are proportioning valves out there that can handle the flow needed on our Deuce's.
Which Frank are...
The problem you will have with a "proportioning" valve is you need main pressure on the other side of the valve. I'll try and explain the operation of the valve so you will understand. Usually the valve is located just past the master cylinder with the front brake line on one side and the rear...
I just realized I have been giving you the solution to the long-term problem not your immediate problem. Your original problem was the air governor not working and you found ice in the line. I should have realized then your problem. The only explanation I can give for my brain fart is that I've...
I understand your frustration as all the diagrams show the air compressor line run straight to the air-dryer.
Like I said before, the Deuce has three air tanks. The first one inline has two chambers. One "wet" tank, and the other is a dry tank used to service the truck. Since the Deuce was...
So you did buy one of the newer AD-IS style air-dryers ? With our high humidity climates these newer style air-dryers do not do so well. At Metro we had nothing but problems with ours. They had to be rebuilt every week due to the high moisture in our air. Clogged them up really bad.
Took an...
